I've sat through a few Triton talks, I just don't think its for me. A lot of elements to worry about now (some of which may not matter) and it can get expensive.
I like the fuge for pod production etc, and I just enjoy checking them out at times, so not just for nutrient export. I feel like having the fuge before the skimmer would be counterproductive in that way. Is that what they are saying for people to do? How I understood it was just having a sufficiently sized fuge, not necessary where in the sump it was.
For instance, regarding lithium, my tank was extremely high according to them, yet my tank looked the best at that time than it ever had.
