Bean's 300 Gallon AGE Build

Thanks buddy. Haha maybe a year I need to save my pennies. Not sure what I want either. It will force me to make it nice to look at underneath.

If my equipment and sump look this good it will be a sin to hide it behind cabinet door. Just install a nice cabinet led and let it shine.

So I had a rough reefing weekend. I did a water change Thursday night in prep to medicate the quarantine. I was also getting a lot of salt creep so after the water change I decided to turn down the air stone with a small valve. I was out all day Friday, but everyone looked ok. Fast forward to Saturday morning, the Red Sea Sailfin tang was near death... well I thought it was dead but when I went to scoop it out it moved. Only lasted another 30 minutes before I put it out of its misery. Its body was completely white. Not ich or velvet from what I could tell. Lack of o2? The water change and reducing the air stone is all I changed in the tank. I have no idea. Also lost the pintail wrasse Sat morning as well.

To add insult to injury, when doing to the water change on Thursday evening, the blackspotted leopard was doing laps and its body got stuck to the inlet of the siphon hose when I was removing some water... it popped off but it the force was strong. It passed Sunday. It was not looking good after that happened, breathing really hard and what not.

So I'm down to the male blue star and brunneus in QT.

I like my open stand although I do plan to skin it. I have not decided how I want it to look.

I'd like to incorporate a tall cabinet and shelf next to my tank as well... same material as the skin.

Thanks, yeah I want to get some led strip lights for sure.

When you zoomed in, does it still looks clear, or blurry?

My Arlo sucks. Poor image quality :(

Eh, its ok. I can still see the fish, but the picture quality isn't that great. I've had these a couple years just never got around to installing them. I just wanted to be able to check if there is any problems, but browse my lack of coral and fish haha

Sorry to hear Cody.

Yeah I'm bummed. I purchased the tang and the leopards from a local guy breaking down his tank. I feel really bad. I'm not certain it was the lack of o2... but those were the only changes I made. No ammonia present. I feel like disease would have taken longer to manifest itself... not take them out in one night.

Could there have been something on your hands or in the container or hose causing contamination?

I'm usually pretty good about that. I doubt it but I guess its possible. I feel like they all would have died if that was the case. I've used the same hose before with no issues.

I just got the other three fish a week prior, so they were a little stressed, swimming back and forth etc. Especially the tang not used to being in smaller quarters. But by Wed or Thurs it had calmed down and was eating mysis. It would go from pale to full color then back throughout that week.

Not necessarily Cody. When the tank crashed a year ago and I was removing rock work, I lost two fish within 24 hours, probably from detritus and stuff getting stirred up, yet 4-5 survived.

The qt is pretty simple. Not very much detritus. I changed 5 gallons out of 20. No rock. Just a cup of sand. Hob filter, maxi jet with sponge filter and the air stone. Im stumped. Im not going to put as many fish in next time. But if someone has any more bright ideas Im all ears. Just looking to learn from it if i can.

I removed a few pieces of rock on the left side. Created a small island in front instead of connecting it with the main rockwork behind it. Ill be making more tweaks as I go.

Looking crisp Cody. Love the pair of YT too. You planning on adding other tangs with 'em?
Probably. I need to refill the qt. I added some bleach and let it run a couple days. Dried it out after. I have some of those no3 spheres in my sump to reseed it.
