I originally thought that it might be an Haddoni but the tentacles are some what pointed. What do you think?

It is certainly possible it could be a gigantea. The length and distribution of the tentacles near the center make me think it could be.
Its too bad that most of their enlarged pics are so pixelated as to make them useless.

I've always wanted a carpet anemone, but I was always afraid that it would snare some of my fish. I have a lot of rare fish that would be really hard if not impossible to replace.

Anyway, my question is have any of you guys experienced you carpet anemone dining on your fish? What are the chances of that really happening?

I know several people locally that have them and each one has lost fish to their carpet. One of them lost a male Crosshatch Trigger to his big Haddoni. The anemone didn't eat the fish but it gave it a pretty bad sting and it eventually died.
I also have a lot of fish in my tank and some are rare but I still want a nice red Haddoni.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one Phil. I am pretty sure that I see exocoelic tentacles. Haddoni has them, gigantea doesn't.

I was recently told that the more exotic color morphs like Blue and Purple are naturally occuring colors in Gigantea but not Haddoni and Haddoni's offered in these colors are always dyed. Is this true or am I being fed a load of b.s.?

not true. i've had red and orange haddoni's that never faded.

Red and Orange, yes, but are the blue and purple ones dyed?

no i've had blues and purples as well and they never lost their color. Imo it's more rare to find colorful giganteas then haddonis. I've seen quite a nice variety of colors of haddonis that are not dyed.

How many carpets have you owned in 6 years? :D

I agree that it is probably a haddoni. If it is a gigantea, it is not in great shape. If it is a haddoni, I'm not liking the bare gaps between the rows of tentacles on the interior.

I'm not seeing enough detail in the tentacles to tell much of anything.

I've had at least a couple of each color mentioned. But in the end they always die on me either cuz they got snuggled to death by my pair of onyx, bad shipping, summer heat, or water parameter went screwy. Longest I've kept a carpet is two years and it was a orange/reddish one. Waiting to setup my new tank before trying another specimen again. :D
