Sps dominated reef

Should i be going with a cebu sun or can i go with a belize sun,

Cebu 3x250 watt radium with 4x80 watt actinics

Belize 2x250 watt phoenix with 2x80 watt actinics

All run on m80 ballasts for the halides.

Im not sure if i can get away with the belize because it's such a nice fixture. Or i should just buy a cebu. I just don't like the way the cebu looks. Im not interested in any other fixtures other than these two

I vote Cebu. I have it. Why not get more light. 2 more t5 and another halide. You can't beat that. But if you want something that looks nice the Belize is a nice fixture. Nice looking fixture or a lot of light.

Do you have a picture of it over your tank?

I do. You won't like it cause it's a 4ft fixture on a six foot tank and it's not suspended cause I'm not allowed to drill into the ceiling per the missus. I don't have a recent picture since I had a make shift light shield to prevent spill over in to the the room and I've added an led strip and dual bulb fixture too.

This pic is a day or so after my tank crash and emergency transfer. I lost all the corals in this pic. The light looked really good over my four foot tank. I do not have a pic of that.

Get the Cebu. Other than Phoenix DE bulbs, I pretty much dont like the other offering in the DE range. SE enabled fixtures you get bit more choice of bulbs etc. And with the length being 60" definitely a 3 bulb fixture is the better option in terms of light coverage.

At least with the CEBU if you are not getting good results...it means the water is at issue. Light issue is essentially eliminated from the outset.

I just got a Belize sun. Very nice looking fixture. I'm running it on my 65 standard.

Sent from Second star to the right*and straight on 'till morning"

I vote Cebu for radium alone. I have the 36" on my 40g breeder and its awesome. Make sure you order it from Hamilton, as you know they have the radium version with the right ballast. my corals had some issues with acclimating from LEDs. several corals had tissue death in the previously shadowed areas but all have recovered and are regaining their color really quick. I've noticed daily improvement. The corals that were not affected have started to grow much quicker within the month of switching.

One thing I am going to try, is swapping out 2 of the t5s for true actinic bulbs.

I would probably do that fixture that gave me the best coverage. Better looking coral > better looking light fixture.

Let there be light.

Just got my cebu, this has 3 250 watt radiums on m80 ballasts
2 true actinic
2 hamilton 460 nm blue
2 reebright tech strips.

There's so much light cops be tripin in the driveway thinkin this is a different kind of grow op

You won't regret it! I'm a little jealous of your reefbrite strips as they're one thing I really want to add to my setup!

There ya go, best bang for you buck! Congrats! In 6 months swap out for ATI tubes, 2 B+ and 2 Actinic 03.

It's about time:D

Good luck with the new lights...............I'm sure you'll be happy.

right? haha i take forever

how do you guys control temperature increases into the room itself with the halides? the only problem i've ever had with them is that they make the house hot lol

You mean like vent it out of your house? Eww. Sounds like a lot of duct work. What about a few extra computer fans around the light and tank to help dissipate the heat.
