Best skimmer for my tank, what do you guys think?

Also looked into a My Reef Creations MR-2, anyone ever used one of these before. Was wondering if these would be able to be used in a sump. I see that a mag 12 can be used as a pump. Just wanted to know if anyone had any feedback on them.
Thanks

I use a modded mr2 with a pcx-55 PRESSURE RATED pump. Never tried a non-pressure rated pump, but I hear it's not too good.

The G4 plus looks to be a good choice. It is rated for a 400 gallon tank and the asmskimmer.com rates it to a 250 gallon and you are putting it on a 125. That looks like a good combo to me.

I am sure someone more knowledgeable than me will be by soon.

Not only is the MR2 a great PARTICLE skimmer, it can be upgraded.

You wan't a particle skimmer, not so much a protien skimmer. The gX is a great "protien" skimmer.

Just trying to save you from the same mistakes that I made with my BB tank ;)

I have a DSB on my 125. The G3 with the gate valve is kicking A#$ IMO. Although I wonder if it would work better with the Sedra 9000?

I could not get the G4+ due to space constraints.

Go for an AquaC or a Euro-reef (my favorite), just be sure you select a model that fits. Actually I may have a spare AquaC somewhere in my storage room (it was a tight fit in my sump so I switched to the Euro-reef after 1 month of use). It will take any skimmer a good month (give or take a week) to really break in properly.

I would leave the berlin turbo out of the line up. I have had one of these for 5 years on a 65 and may have gotten it to produce a gallon of skimmate. It would never be able to handle a larger tank in my opinion.

I had it on my 55 and thought it was inadequate. It was on my 125 for 2 years as well. Constant adjusting and the turbo pumps are garbage.

the g4+ sounds attactive. you can have asmskimmer.com modify it for recirculating if you perfer.at least your getting a sedra 9000. like the more $$ euroreefs. if you have 30"+ clear. space
in your stand then try a g4x.

I've owned a few EuroReef skimmers, and several others for my SPS system, and the H&S recirculating skimmer has been my favorite.

It foams consistently all the time, and quickly recovers after feeding.

Haven't tried the EuroReef recirculating skimmers, but wouldn't be surprised if they worked well.

Ok I have pretty much decided on the G4 plus. What exactly consists of the recirculating mod. Does anyone have any pics of what this is on their skimmer so I could take a look at them and decide if I wanna do it on mine. Also does anyone have a website or is there a thread on here that goes over the gate valve mod?
Thanks

If you're still open to suggestions, I'll give you my impressions of the 2 Turboflotor Multi SLs I own. These are very efficient units for the relatively low up front cost. As an ME (I'm a Chem E myself), I'm sure you will appreciate the merits of German engineering and workmanship.

Here are some photos.

Ok I went with the asm G4 plus for my tank. Got it in the other day but sedra was broken during shipment. Dam you Fed Ex. Looks like I will have to go through the whole insurance claim thing again to get a new one. Thanks for all the input everyone.
