Bi_Color Dwarf angel eating Maxima Mantle

I just noticed yesterday the clam didnt open at all. I saw the angel picking at the clam but thought it was just going for some algae on the shell. This morning I can see the edges of the mantle are all chewed back to where the spots are that border the mantle and while I was looking at it, the angel came by and took another chunk out!!:mad2:

I know I have to get that little beast out but my question is, will the mantles edge regrow once the little terror is gone.

Really makes me mad cause the little bugger is fed well and he still does this.

it depends on how much damage was done. if the clam pulls through, in time it will regrow

it still shouldn't come as a surprise, angels are know to nip at corals and clams and are not referred to as reef friendly. pretty much any webpage will state that they are not to be kept with clams or certain corals.


hopefully the clam will recover, if you can catch the little angel.

Yeah, I know. My bad! I was just hopeful he would been a good one. Oh well, Murphy strikes me again.

I caught him alright. I took most of the rock out but I got the SOB.He will stay in the refugium until tomorrow when I take him back to my LFS.

I wanted to get the fish right before adding many coral for just this reason so I only have some Xenia and a medium toadstool. Removing the rock at this stage was not a big deal.
