Big skimmers for big systems

Have got a hold of Spazz but the shipping is a killer.
has anyone heard of these baby's
GroTech 400 - http://www.grotech.de/ENGLISH/index.php?c=1&s=bis12000liter looks like BK would come in better as these are 4.4k and BK 400 are 2.6k Bt Bubble king 400 are rated for 4000l where Grotech are for 12,000.
?? what to do?
Also with the Bubble king what are the advantages / disadvantages of internal v's extrenal? I can go either way realy.

You could build your own and save a lot of cash both on the purchase and on the electrical consumption:

This is my DIY Counter Current air stone skimmer. It runs on an Alita 100 (seen on the left) which draws 120W and skims my 1,200g system. You can also see my 6g collection bucket at the bottom.

And here is a skimmate pic:

So for my system, this is the most electrically efficient skimmer I could come up with. It's something like .5W per CFM of air.

Thank you. That was my second acrylic project, right after the overflow. :D Obviously at about 7' tall, not for your average tank installation, but for someone with a tank room, it's hard to beat its electrical efficiency and I get about 5g/week in skimmate.

Well power consumption on mine is obviously good and maintenance is somewhat subjective. If you take a close look at my first pic, you will see a large mag float in the skimmer body. That helps a lot. I also have a mini mag float in the neck to keep that clean. Then about once/week or less  I pulll off the top and use my "patented" neck cleaner, otherwise known as a toilet brush  to give the neck a thorough scrub and wipe it out with a paper towel, or six. I can also remove the entire cup and put it in my utility sink for a full spray down. All-in-all, a complete clean takes less than 15 minutes with about 3 minutes being for messing with screws. I use a cordless drill chucked up with a hex key so that goes rather quickly. Commercially produced skimmers, if well designed, can make this cleaning routine faster in that they have twist lock flanges and usually smaller collection cups & necks. HTH!

i need something i can buy I'm not a diy person

Completely understandable. And it's hard to pick! Keep in mind that noise issues can be resolved with fairly simple mufflers. I know a lot of people feel beckets are too noisy but that can be taken care of easily.

well, ask Sherman about that. I have heard that but he is a staunch ghetto modder and all he uses are beckets.

Just to let you all know I managed to purchase a Sander copy for £700 THis baby is 7 foot tall with a 20 Inch tube. Run by a .75 HP pump for the venturi and feed by a sequence 10k.

Will post some pic's once she is running.

I would definately get one from Spazz and just swallow the shipping cost. The efficiency of his design is incredible. It's the only air injected skimmer I have ever seen. There is a new model he is experimenting with that once it gets into the final design phases will completely revolutionize the skimmer industry. I know this is strong wording but it is pretty cool stuff. I just hope the new design pans out.

I have looked into RK2 , Bermuda. Verry nice overpriced. I have purchased a Spazz / Wann skimmer, this is the size of three bubble kings and the same money . I have gone through so many hobby skimmers that I could of purchased the corect skimmer the first time. Do the correct thing the first time.
