Bimaculatus anthias, who has them?

OK guys, I want to join in on the fun!
I'm planning to make an anthias order in a week or so...I thought I had decided upon a large group of lyretails, but now I think it may be more interesting to get two or three different varieties.

Tom, in an earlier post you suggested getting maybe a small group of both lyretails and bartletts - would this be your choice of anthias to start with if you were working with a clean slate?
In other words, which anthias would you guys get if you didn't have any yet? Where would you start?
FYI, I have a 180g similar (in setup) to Copps, with a couple hundred gallons of other systems plumbed to it. The display is barebottomed, mixed reef. No large fish - currently only pair of false percs, two small hawkfish, and a small royal gramma.

Any suggestions?

Maximus, you are in for a week of - Where the Heck are my New Fish!?
My Bimacs have been in my tank for 9 days now. At Feeding time the Male is out immediately and shows little fear of the other fish. The female darts in and out of a hole in my rocks to grab food, then back in.

To go back a few days for you, I went probably 3-4 full days without ever seeing the Female. Looking through the side of the tank I found her, squeezed tight into a small crevice. She could actually Feed from there if something floated by.
I was really worried during those days, now I see her out to feed everyday.

My Male has yet to move out the far left side of my tank. They are both living in a small 12" section of the tank.

The good thing about Bimacs and you probably agree, they seem to all be Very Heathy when they arrive from wherever they came from. They are strong fish that can live through these first few Rough Days in our tanks.

Good Luck.

Reelheel...think it depends on how many anthias you want to have in total. Both species you mentioned are less demanding and would do fine. Some of my other fav's are bicolors and my new carraberri's. The latter are not real bright but neat detail. Of course bimaculatus are really nice and seem to be somewhat hardy though they do command a higher price.

can anyone help me figure out to get pics posted:confused:  I'm a real idiot. Problem is pic's off my camera are way over KG allowed. How can I format to get posted? Sorry to change the subject:D

Tom,
You can set up a free account with photobucket.com. You can store pics there and link them to RC. Imo, that's the easiest thing to do. Just copy and paste the "img" tag and you're set!

Thanks for the reassurance guys. I hope these things eat soon. I finally found one of the females perched at the top underneath a rock. She looks fine.

Is there any way to make the pics larger, Tom? Photobucket automatically resizes the pics for you, thus you do not need to shrink them down at all. You can just upload large pics from your camera and it will do all the work.

I know if you click on the photo it will increase in size. When it comes to computer stuff...well let's say...I'm a total moron! I had to ask a teenage kid in the neighborhood get me to this point...so be patient. Try clicking on the photo and see what happens. Tom

I am having trouble getting more than one pic on the same reply. I'm putting the images together but when I submit them the first one posted is the only one that shows up. What am I doing wrong? Think I may be better with the aquarium end (not that I'm great there either) than on the computer end.

Hmm, are you using Photobucket? If so, then you should be able to post as many img links as possible, and they should all show up.

Well, my fish finally came out to feed! I fed frozen brine and daphnia and they relished it. I never knew daphnia was so small. I wonder how much nutrition it has? I have heard that frozen brine basically has no nutrition. What other foods do you guys feed?

I use Hikari mysid (smaller than Piscine) and bloodworms. I use a couple cubes of each and dump it in. I've found that the larger fish can handle the PE mysid but my anthias just pass it by. I also think cyclopeez would be a good option.
