black pvc union & valves -- do they exist?

I am able to find black PVC pipe and fittings (elbow, tee's etc), but I have NOT been able to locate a source of black PVC unions and single/true union ball valves or gate valves.

I have been able to find single union black glass reinforced polypropylene ball valves from banjo (but not PVC) and polypropylene true union ball valves on freckleface (but I'm not sure they are black and not PVC).

Does anyone know of a source or do these even exist in PVC? I am hoping to avoid painting unions and valves black with krylon fusion.

Can find white sched 40 and gray sched 80 no problem.

You can use sch80 fittings which are dark grey. They won't be more restrictive like sch80 pipe would be.

Then again, spray paint sure is cheaper.

why i am sure it would be cheaper.

Yes I'm aware of the schedule 80 dimensions, color and price. I am looking at that as one of my options rather than all black PVC fittings.

As I said in my 1st post I wan't to avoid painting PVC. Its purely an aesthetics thing.

Been buying all sorts of oddball plumbing for my tanks for longer than I care to admit and I do not recall ever seeing black unions or valves. Dark grey, yes,; black, no.

try contacting Aquarium Specialty, they are a sponsor on RC. Go on their website and shoot a message. They have colored PVC and fittings, and some sizes that I want were not on their website, so I emailed them and learned that they can get them.

I would get ABS gate valves for flow control. There is a glue from PVC to ABS that should work.
And you can use black john guest fittings http://www.plumbingsupply.com/uv-resistant-push-in-black-fittings.html with no glueing involved.

Have a link on the gate valves? All I have found are the knife type valves.

Yeah that is what I have run into. All of the pic's I have found of ones that are black are overseas and metric (and I'm not sure they are truly black vs. dark gray). I guess if I want to do black I'm going to have to resign myself to painting with glossy black krylon fusion.

Will do.

Just as an FYI for anyone reading this thread I checked with BRS they did not have any colored fittings (just the pvc pipe).

I do assume that you know that painting these things will do more harm than good...painting valves and such that are intended to be taken apart by design, won't.....Krylon fusion bonds to plastic by dissolving the surface being painted, forming a mechanical bond (similar to solvent welding.)

Yep which is why I was trying to avoid painting. I have painted unions before, taped off the faces and threads then painted which worked but its a pain... valves I haven't tried but was concerned about the stem, obviously would be taping off the inside of the valve where the pipe slips in.

People have been painting valves for years with no issues.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback. After careful consideration, I'm going with gray fittings.

Way cheaper and easier to obtain. No painting/staining involved.

I agree with Dattack, get the glue for PVC to ABS from any home depot store and use ABS fittings or pipes where needed. I've done this for many projects. Easiest, quickest and cheapest route. No need to overthink.
