that is amazing. you know what i want to see? a showoff thread for abnormally colored fish. ive seen regal angels that were dark orange with stripes like fire, and ive seen a clown tang with circles instead of stripes. IMO these types of fish are amazing to see. do you mind if i create that thread and use this thread as an example?

Very cool fish. My guess would be a genetic mutation of some sort. Look at how many different clown fish morphs there are all through selective breeding. Black and white clowns start out with some orange and tend to lose most of it as they age. The yellow belly regals start out looking like normal regals and get more yellow on their bellies as they age.

as soon as hatcheries perfect tang breeding here we go. Extreme Nightmare Regals, and such.

This genetic mutation actually isn't that unheard of, though uncommon. The regal will develop the black during adolescence but as the fish grows, it will often fade back to the normal blue coloring. I wouldn't pay any extra for one unless it was a full adult...
