Black Scopas Hybrid and Black Tang?

Hello. Has anyone here ever kept a Black Scopas Hybrid Tang and a Black Tang together? I currently have a 6-7" Black Tang and am contemplating whether to add a Black Scopas Hybrid. The tank is 300g with over 200lbs of live rock in there (no other tangs in the tank). Thanks.

I have not and would not. They are both of similar body styles and that spells trouble with aggressive tangs. I think it'll be trouble.

I did. They were fine. However, I have never had an issue with tangs fighting. I keep the water clean (near reef quality) and keep them well fed. I also had a few purples (they would hang out together), a PBT, large sailfin (the meanest, but not that bad), hippo and a chocolate in there too.

Here are some cell phone quality pics:

I personally think that tangs are like people - put them in a cramped house and wrongly stimulate them, then they act like fools on a reality TV show... keep their needs met and they are very well behaved.

I had a 240G FOWLR with a few ASM skimmers and lit with MH. I used sugar to keep the N and P in check before dosing carbon was "cool." I changed 44G of water ever 2 weeks (50G bag of IO). The purples and the black tang is currently in 1800G tank in a local hospital along with an ex zebra eel, volition lion and chocolate tang. Now that you mention it, I have no idea what happened to the hybrid after he got too big.

Most of these tangs were 4+" (real 4", not a live aquaria 4" that is like 2.25") and were given to me as known coral eaters - even the black tang. I purchased the hybrid before hybrids got cool. I caution people all the time to keep their tangs fed - most of these would demollsh polyps and LPS.

It can be done but it will be extremely difficult for you to do at this point. I had 2 purples that were purchased together and were the same size (1-3/4") and lived in the 180g they were put in for 7 yrs without any problems
