wow the size is impressive
I'm glad you found a protocol that appears to be working. The challenge is finding something that works before the anemone dies. Best of luck and keep up the good work. I know it's a pain to have nems in QT, but it's definitely worth the extra effort!
Sorry you have had bad luck with DD nems. I am skeptical about ordering anemones online. I usually wait out till I see something I want. However, I live in a fish store saturated market and understand that not everyone has the same access to SW livestock. You have done the best you could. Best of luck next time.I've treated the nem for 7 days in HT with Cipro and Septra.
It seemed to respond well but still occasionally expelled zooxanthelle.
I stopped treatment 5 days ago and the haddoni seemed to be doing ok. But 2 days ago it took a turn for the worst. Today is is just a pancake with huge gaping mouth. I doubt it will survive the night.
I sure didn't expect a specimen in such poor health from the Divers Den. But I don't think I will order anemones form them again. I've not been impressed with the health of the gig or haddoni I ordered from them. Mind you I spent $800 for the two and both arrived sick and didn't survive.
Even after particular care for extensive amounts of time.

I'm increasingly of the view that it's not worth paying the DD premium for anemones. Nems ship so poorly that I don't believe the DD protocols net you any added benefits. Fish from them, absolutely; anemones, probably not.
We need to figure out why the LA anemones in particular are doing so poorly. I don't think we can chalk it all up to shipping stress. Virtually all nems we get from an LFS (except for those from customers' tanks) were shipped at some point and went through essentially the same stresses as a LA anemone, but the success rates appear to be much higher.
I would also be curious to see recent success rates from other vendors such as ibluewater and bluezoo.
I am really sorry you lost your haddoni. He was beautiful.
Mine has perished and was removed this morning![]()

I am sorry that they did not do well. I have had my share of anemone that did not make it.
Of the three anemones seen above which one if any make it?
I think in the future I will only treat one anemone at a time, or else treat them in separate tank. If an anemone fail treatment, he will most likely get everything in the tank sick, so IMO, three anemone will triple the chance of failure to all of them.
I think if we see poor looking anemone at the LFS, we just don't buy it so the sucess from the LFS is higher. We need to figure out why the LA anemones in particular are doing so poorly.
