Nice clowns and nems. Are those flame angels bonded or mated...or neither?

Think they are at least bonded. The male (larger) periodically chases the female, never injures, but then she continues to follow him. I've never seen anything that would indicate mating.

If you have your light dimmed, the spawn almost everyday right as the light go out. The male follow the female with this snout right at her pelvic. They swim up the water column and dive down quickly release a puff of eggs and sperms. Right after this they go into the rock and sleep.

I use Radions. I dim the light over 1 hr and the light go completely dark about 15 seconds after this happen. Like clockworks.

Fantastic! Do your chrysopterus actually go in the nems or just sit next to the bases. This has always been an issue whenever I've tried this combo. I believe certain geographical variants of chrysopterus are more/less immune to a magnifica's sting. I've had Marshall Island variants that acted like they were shocked when they touched the tentacles of the mag they were kept with. They would sleep near or against the anemone but never enter into the tentacles. I've never kept the Fiji/to ga variant, like yours, with a mag though.

I do know that in places like French Polynesia chrysopterus are found commonly in mags.

At first they got stung, but they soon adapted. The smaller male adapted sooner than the female. It took a little while for them to sleep in them. I also noticed they are gentle with the anemones.

How do you know the larger one is the male? Normally it's the other way around.
