Blue Striped or Clarkii?

I don't want to outright blame the condition on one thing or another but I have only experienced that problem with fish that have been undergoing copper treatments. Has anyone else seen a propensity for this condition occuring while treating with copper?

I don't mean to keep going OT, but if it is of future benefit to the thread starter or others following I can't justify not asking the question.

BTW, mine never recovered from that either.

I never treated my akindynos female and she developed it after 6 months. There was another 18 pairs of clowns in that system being fed the same food and none ever got it.

Not specifically with clowns, but with butterflies and dwarf angels (so not sure it's exactly the same issue). Alsmost always during higher dosage. I now always use cupramine at half the recommended dose, and it has been succcessful.

What copper? I now treat ALL my incomming fish with Cupramine and have never seen an issue.

Coppersafe I think. I think I'll be switching to cuppramine given all the publicity I've seen it get over the last few weeks.

My female A. nigripes, went down with similar condition, she never saw copper. At least from wholesaler until her death.

So, what is it called and what causes it? My guess would still be a bacterial infection....
Visiting Google....

While there may be many infections that are similar looking, what I have seen has not be confined to the vent area. Have seen it on the head, sides, dorsal surface, etc., in clowns. It appears as a smaller eruption, grows, and even has the surface "crust" fall off leaving a gapping wound behind; if the clown lives long enough. Cujo was such a clown.
