Blue throat trigger housed with small octopus?

I have a super small BiMac octopus that I have been keeping in a 50g cube. I recently added a small (2.5") blue throat trigger to the tank. I've been doing a little reading online before adding the blue throat and couldn't find any information directly stating that my trigger will directly target my octopus. But this is probably only because keeping octos in reef settings isn't too popular.

Not sure anyone else may have any direct information with this one but just trying to figure out if my blue throat will try and eat my octopus. The octopus mantel is no bigger than the size of a thumb nail I guess (on a normal sized human. Not you extra large members of the species)

I think trigger will go after octo. It's part of their natural diet. I think it's a bad idea in short term or long term

Nah I never mentioned it to them. It was an impulse buy with all of 6 mins of mobile google before the purchase lol I normally never do that but. I've never owned a trigger so just went through the NEED IT stage I think lol

Thanks. I have visited the store and talked with the owner and someone else but I've never bought anything. If they had told you that there would be no problem with the trigger and octopus I would never go back there.

Did they take it back?

Please tell me they the trigger back. There aren't too LFS in Santa Clarita and this is one of the better ones (at least by appearance).

Honestly I wouldn't hold it against a store for not taking a fish purchase back... I don't think it will speak volumes if they don't anyway. We should all do our due diligence. And I'm not speaking as if the OP made a mistake or criticizing his decision... we've all made impulse purchases.

yes.. my impulse purchase last night.. now I'm on a mission for live feeders. bah

Cody and Rik - I'm not blaming the store and if they don't take the fish back that is their right. I'm hoping for all concerned including the octopus and fish that the OP and the store work something out. In the end I hope that the trigger and octopus find happy homes and one way to facilitate that is if the store will help out the OP.

I would rather see someone here on the forum take the trigger instead of going back to store. I think the octo is OP's preferred choice.
