blue tort questions

Twon that is an identical twin of mine..
maybe there was a bit of mix up at some point at ORA... not sure.

Also I noticed alot of the tort pictures here they put down a big base, mine hardly encrust to the rock although most of my SPS put down a large base due to high flow in my tank.

i have both the ora tort and the A. exquisita in my 90 and the tort has much thicker branches, and the radial corallites are a bit more irregular.

personally i would be happy with what you have, it's much less common than the ora tort.

i got mine as a frag from someone in indiana on rc a few years ago, can't remember who it was, but he said he had gotten it from a totm

Not trying to say anything about StrategicReef tank .But if you look at all the other corals in the shot they all look faded and thin
I bet its a light and water flow issue. Do you know what your po4 is reading

Hi Twon8, I did look at the Australia government link. In one of the pictures it shows half circle like this. But the second picture below has the round coralites again. I have not seen my coral like the first picture on mine before, have you.

Acrodave yes, you are right I moved tanks 2 months ago. new lights, new water, new pumps.. and the corals are lightening up. The corals in the pics had no new growth showing their body color only. The bald orange monti you see is because I broke the branch and had to glued flipped it with shaded side up with very little polyps there. The monti digi in the foreground is german blue polyp and it just kind of unspectacular body color most of the time, I read it's best to be very very close to the light. The shot was made when playing with my new camera in automode without fixing things like white balance. Anyways enough excuses I am working on it. I have alot of algae bryopsis, bubble algae and also run GFO, My PO4 is binded with algae so I can't read any. Nitrate is 0 (test kit completely not pink) since going with the new bare bottom and fuge. In the picture the water params CA 350 Mg 1100... I am surprised the SPS made it this long. Since than it's been fixed to CA 425 Mg1350. I think I need more nutrient but I am not sure. I feed 1 cube to my anthias a day completely eaten and get algae on the glass overnight.

the only radial corallites that look like the first pic are the ones right at the tips

what we have could be an A. exquisita/gomezi hybrid, as the gomezi has the rounded corallites but is larger

Here are my Ora Tort and Oregon Blue Tort. The Ora definitely had a green tint to the base, which is still kind of there but not much anymore.

Whoa...unbelievable growth!!! Nicely done!!!

I also want to add that my Cali Tort frags which came from the same mother looked completely different when I had them placed at different locations. So they can vary from skinny to thick, deep blue to sky blue,...same thing goes to all coral needless to say.

Strategicreef My 75 sps tank only has a marineland 4 bulb fixture over it that I got from my LFS. Been running this aprox. six months now and my torts and most sps are awsome colored.
