Cali blue Tort, Oregon blue tort

which one is the ORA tort = ?

What is a Shawn Bennett Tort is that same as a Cali tort?

Also my ORA used to have a green tint to the body mostly shaded areas when it was in nutrient rich tank, now it has lost it when I provided alot of nutrient export in the fuge. Is that normal?

the cali tort is the ora tort=bennett tort afaik.

the pic above doesn't look like a tort to me, more like A. exquisita

Thanks, I am pretty sure it is ORA blue tort, it came with on a ORA style plug from a reputable online seller. Do you mean the coralites are not bubbly enough?

well, that, plus the ora is always purple/blue all over, maybe a bit of green in shaded parts. yours looks more light blue as well, and the tips on the ora are more rounded than yours appear to be.

but acros look very different from tank to tank, which is why id is never certain.

It could be a blueberry tort.. I would do a search for you, but I am no longer a premium member so it's nearly impossible to search RC

i have two ORA blue torts, they both look very similar two yours and they came on the ORA plug and i bought it from a legitimate source and i highly doubt they sold me something else. i know what you mean by the green base though. Here is a pic of one of them with just attinics

Thanks, I think the shape is inline with you guys.. but like I said I remembered it to be more green and purple in my old tank, the tort looked really great, green slimer looked awesome too but most everything else was brown in the last system (nitrate ~20ppm)

I have to take another photo with better white balance and see.

When my LFS gets the ORA blue torts in they look just like your picture. When I bought one and put it in my 180 halide tank it stayed that color. I since moved both of my ORA blue tort colonys into my 75 sps tank and they are so blue they are almost purple with green polyps. I also have my cali tort with them side by side and they look exactly alike. Yeh I have a Oregon tort too but its still small.

What's your 75 SPS lighting like? I always blast my tort with light too and maybe that's why, I really believe some acros colors look better and saturated if it was less light on them. For example my ORA german blue polyp acro is very light lime green with almost transparent blue polyps, when I got it was more dark green with dark blue polyps.

My tort is growth tips now is a very nice baby blue though.

I would have said the ORA tort has a green base to it, while it turns more blue on the ends of the branches, however a few months ago mine turned completely blue, almost a shade of purple. The polyps are still greenish though. Here's a picture from over a year ago for comparison.

Here are my Ora Tort and Oregon Blue Tort. The Ora definitely had a green tint to the base, which is still kind of there but not much anymore.

here is a pic of what i believe to be A. exquisita. it has more of a green base than is shown in this pic, and almost a metallic mint green, similiar to a suhar

see how the radial corallites are longer thus giving a spinier appearence, which looks very similiar to yours

color really can't be used to identify acros

Twon that is an identical twin of mine..
here is a picture of someone's ORA tort that look sort of like mine,

FragSwap-2008-6.jpg

maybe there was a bit of mix up at some point at ORA... not sure.

Also I noticed alot of the tort pictures here they put down a big base, mine hardly encrust to the rock although most of my SPS put down a large base due to high flow in my tank.
