Dear Members,

We would like to sincerely thank Jack Harrington, aka sirrea63, for his role in starting and leading the SLASH Club. His level head and ideas have helped bring us to where we are today. Even though we are saddened to lose Jack as our secretary, we know that his reasons for resigning are in his best interests and we wish him the best of luck.

Now on to the matter at hand. We will be holding an election for a new board member in the role of secretary at our July 1st meeting. Nominations may be made by email to slashclub@yahoo.com until midnight June 23rd, or by nominating a fellow member at the June 3rd meeting. Electronic voting will begin on Saturday June 24th and will end at midnight on Friday, June 30th. Voting may also take place in person at the July 1st Meeting.

The job of secretary consists of the responsibilities listed in our by-laws, as well as bi-weekly board of director meetings on Tuesday nights and regular attendance at club events.

We look forward to the nominations and democratic process that our by-laws guarantee and hope you enjoy this as well.

Here is some information to answer your questions about the vacancy of the Secretary position:



Section 3. Vacancies on Board of Directors

Paragraph 1: Vacancies shall exist on the Board of Directors and shall be announced by the Board of Directors when any elected officer ceases to be a member of the Board of Directors (i.e. resignation).

Paragraph 2: Vacancies upon the Board of Directors shall be filled by the membership at the next monthly membership meeting, provided the membership shall have been notified of the upcoming election in writing, or electronically (email or the organization’s public web forum). Failure to serve this notice within ten (10) calendar days will automatically cause the election to be held at the following monthly membership meeting, providing the membership has been notified in writing or e-mail, as set forth in this Paragraph.





Secretary Responsibilities:


Paragraph 3: The Secretary shall attend all regular monthly and special membership meetings of the Organization and record its date, place and proceedings.

The Secretary shall attend all meetings of the Board of Directors and keep a full and complete record of the proceedings.

The Secretary shall be the custodian of all the documents of the Organization other than those pertaining specifically to the other offices of the Organization.

The Secretary shall countersign as Secretary of the Organization all instruments, papers and documents when asked to do so by the Board of Directors.

The Secretary shall keep all minutes available for the inspection of the Board of Directors at any of their regular business meetings and likewise available for the inspection of the members of the Organization at every regular monthly membership meeting.
 
The election of the secretary will be finalized on July 1st at the Saturday business meeting of SLASH. Voting and nominations may be made electronically by email. The majority vote gets the job...good luck suckers!

We are looking for a good secretary...if you are interested in running or nominating someone...please send us your email.

There were a couple people that were interested and now I think are not interested...can you guys PM me and let me know where you stand too? Thanks.
