Bonnethead sharks for sale

Funny you should say that as I have 12000 gallon system. The only reason I am selling these sharks is because. My 42" female bonnethead shark has become to aggressive to house these small sharks in the same aquarium.

So should all the other fish that you and every one else in this hobby have killed. Stop where you are. Sharks are no different then any other fish. Other then that they require more space to thrive.

right...but sharks arnt like any other fish out there...no bones, no swim bladder, ect.... While many of our reef fish might not leave a 20'-20' area for most there life, sharks just arnt the same. Look its about personal views, sharks in the wild arnt like the fish...the way they act, interact with people, its not the same. If you asked everyone on here I know the vast majority would feel like these sharks should be in the ocean. I do hope you find a wonderful home for these little guys, best of luck.

were only beatin a dead horse on this one....

Why not? A Fish is a Fish.. Right? That like saying Ornate Butterflyfish should be left on the Reef but guess what.... PEOPLE BUY THEM... Why? Becasue they want too. The man is tring to find a good home for these fish. At least let him try. I mean whats the down side he either finds a home or the DIE. SO let him Find a HOME!!

got any pics of your setup? I would love to see it, bonnet heads are my favorite. If set up right there is no reason why a bonnet cant live in a 12000gal tank.

Im not trying to keep them outta a good home...and "a fish is a fish"? wow...look yall have fun with this one.

bottom line...why do so many people say leave them to the ocean and public aquariums?

again...hope ya find a good home...but i ment this as a message to people looking to buy them.

peace

hey anything that is taken from the sea has been removed from a system that it had a role to play in ... otherwise there would be no point in its existance.

yes some species need more care then others, some species shouldnt be available for sale either, but if mandarins can be sold to novice's who feed brine shrimp and wonder why they die then how is that better then keeping a shark in captivity????

this aint a thread in the responsible reefer section so let the guy sell his stock to people he thinks are adequate and forget about it, at least he says hes got the equipment to do it ethicly.

LISTEN
Bonnethead Shark Males mature between 20-30 inches and females mature at 33 inches or less in length. When being born at 14 inches in length, this is a while before they can reproduce. Sharks in general take a loooooooong time to get to the age where they reproduce. This making them very different from other fish that produce thousands of eggs at a time.
That being said.

I didnt realize that you had a 12000 gallon. That seems sufficient to me for Bonnetheads. I am sorry for the gut reaction it was the first thing that came to mind. I love Bonnetheads more than anyone I know and hope to keep two one day in a captive breeding program in which I will then return juveniles to the wild once they are strong enough. This I hope will cut down on young Bonnetheads being eaten and ensure a happy future for this wonderful animal.

Tangs, and triggers get large and need a lot of space too! Stop trying to make people feel they are doing something wrong by getting a shark. He obviously has a large enough system. Keeping any fish in a glass box can be considered morally wrong, if thats how you feel maybe you should reconsider the hobby your in. He's trying to do the responsible thing. Let him do it.

TTU Reefer,
Your posts state at the bottom that you're a proud tang owner. Have you ever seen tangs on a reef? I can assure you that the ones I've seen utilize hundreds of yards on the reef. So if you're going to claim that sharks require too much room, you need to think about how much room you provide for your tangs.

As far as people and more specifically public aquariums stating they should be left in the ocean you should think about the source. Of course public aquariums are against the private individual keeping sharks. Sharks are one of the primary attractions of a public aquarium. If you've got sharks at home you won't need to pay $40-50 to see them at the local public aquarium. I'm sure amusement parks feel the same way about private individuals having roller coasters at home too. The sad thing is that public aquariums kill more than their fair share of sharks as it is. And these are the pros with all of the top notch equipment you can buy. The majority of the public has not attempted keeping sharks at home. Many species do quite well. I can remember many years ago that the general public thought that most marine fish could not be kept. Now, people not only keep most of these marine fish but some are actually reproducing in captivity. If no one tries and pioneers in a field then it's a sure thing that no one will succeed.

Talk about hypocritical...

72gal. with a Tang and you're going to gripe at a guy that's keeping a shark, that'll max out at 30", in a 12,000gal. system.

Well to speak both sides,

He does have a 180 going up (it says in his signature)

And MSIBWP Bonnetheads grow way more than 30" Ive caught em at 4 feet and 10 pounds

Re: Bonnethead sharks for sale

Sean, this is the wrong forum for sales. In addition, RC requires that a member has made at least 50 meaningful posts before selling.
