Ok, I see aquarium specialty for online... I wonder if they all look the same, are your bonzai's the same shape? Sorry about all the questions, it's jus really cool, lol...

I went with a combination of different size "branch" and "bonsai" pieces. It is a little pricey, but I really like it.

Time to post my quarterly update. Well, I changed my lights again from AI hydra's to AI Hydra 52's. Most of my corals are easy or no name SPS. The corals showing the best growth and color over the last 3 months are the staghorns, stylo's, turaki and lokani. The blue stag in the middle/left has colored up and been growing like crazy. The ones showing the least growth and color are the Mille's (color) and birdsnest's (growth). I lost a maricultured loripes colony, but this had been struggling for quite a while. I bleached it when I first switched over to led's and it just never recovered. My nitrates have been undetectable so I have been trying to feed more and cut down on water changes to try and darken things up a bit. I don't use carbon or GFO and recently I put some online via a phosban reactor and I think I added too much because things lightened up again after they were doing so well. I have no idea why I did that knowing my nitrates and phosphates were already low. Since then I have taken it back off line and don't run any carbon or GFO now. My slimer was a nice deep fluorescent green, and now it's a few shades lighter. It's recovered from much worse. So I took some recent pics, just for documentation. Things had looked better, but the gfo/carbon really brought things a step or two back. Hopefully the next quarterly pics will be much better.

Did ur candy cane colony break or is it growing upwards at an angle either way wow

That thing breaks if I look at it the wrong way. There are so many pieces of it now that I can just configure it anyway I want. Plus, I have a yellow tail damsel that I am constantly fighting with. I put a piece of it where I want and if he doesn't like it, he moves it. About six years ago it was nice and round. Then I started fragging it and would sell them to Joe at puppy center. Chances are if anyone bought this color morph from puppy center this is the mother colony. I've had it since 2004.

Franky, here is a pic of it from 2007 (top middle and right side). This was on a reef tank I had set up at work. The good old reefing days, it was a 20 long with an aquaclear hang on filter and power compact lighting. It's grown under pretty much every type of reef lighting there is at one point or another.

Wow I bought mine from PC in about 2010-2011 so chances are my piece came from yours it's a beast now lol

I guess I should say thanks lol

Just wanted to post a small update on my tank. So, as I had posted before, my center brace had cracked/separated from the top frame and the glass was bowing roughly 5/8" and getting worse. So much so, the door to my canopy would not even close flush anymore. This is what it looked like in the beginning:

Since this picture it had totally separated, so I know it was only getting worse. Because the tank was not on an actual purchased aquarium stand, but a custom one, they would not honor the warranty. I could have purchased a new top frame, but I had been wanting a lower/wider tank and took this as my opportunity. I kept the same volume and just went with different dimensions. I ended up with another 120 gallon (48x24x24). I am really liking this tank and the new dimensions. My scaping turned out so, so. I don't know if I would really call it a "bonsai" reef anymore, but here are a few FTS's of another new beginning. I couldn't decide which shot I liked, so here are 3 that are basically the same. Thanks for looking:

Tank is awesome!
Thanks, I don't post all that much, as you can tell from my avatar. I've been a member since 2004 with around 1100 posts or so, but I follow everyone's threads and am pretty much lurking everyday. I've been watching your beast of a build come along as well. Can't wait to see that monster loaded with fish and coral.
