Brian's 270 Starphire

To trip GFI would be a dead short i do believe. Are electrical boxes metal? Any wiring that may have been pulled, cut or in anyway stressed? Cats, rabbits, kids? What ballast?

Brian, if you haven't you might want to plug the working ballast into the same plug that the non-working ballast is in to see if the working ballast trips the GFI. Maybe it's the GFI? If it doesn't trip then it would seem to be a ballast issue.

It was definitely the ballast. I have two different lines both on GFI and it tripped both of them. I talked with an electrician and he told me to plug it in a socket with out a GFI and then plug it back into the GFI socket to see if it will fire. It did!

I turn it off and on a few different time and it seems to be OK now. He said that sometime the competitor on ballast get drain and need a bit more to fire up, just enough to trip out a GFI. Plugging it in to a normal socket allowed the competitor to "charge" again.

What every it is it worked and I will keep an eye on it.

Tony every thing looked OK. If it does it again I do believe the problem is inside the ballast. Blueline told me that they can on repair it and it would need to be replaced. I'm going to keep an eye on it.

Brian, what was the results with the ballast?

Mark, I'm not sure what the issue was. It's still hooked up and running fine. If it does it again, I'll just replace it. For now it working.

Sorry to hear your move had some complications. I just went thru the same thing w/ my SPS as well transitioning to a new Miracles aquarium. Ah well, soldier onward!

Moving is never fun. Did they ever resolve your tank issues?
