Brightwell Aquatics NeoZeo method.

The reason I ask is it would be helpful to know that they are doing some continual trial and error research as well so as to make corrections/improvements/education of their system.

My dosing amnts are pretty solid, though corals could be a little lighter on some..letting them go like this for awhile since I tortured them the opposite way so bad under my previous system.

I want to get the combined dosing brews going so it's automated. I am also swapping my reactor from neozeo stones/mb7/biofuel to the new solid carbon dosing pellets from overseas in an effort to completely eliminate manual dosings. I'll let you know how they work out when I get them going.

I do know that they are. They have two systems set up and are testing. One with, and one without fish. I want to say that both system combined are around "2k?" gallons, however I may be off on that. Been a while since I discussed any of that with him.

In other news, my doser arrived on Saturday. I hope to have some time over the next couple of weeks to actually get it up and running.

Brightwell NeoZeo update before and after photos. Yes this is the same coral.

Regarding powder supplements, which one would be beneficial?

I plan on using them in my top off water?

I'm currently doing an upgrade to a 215 gallon tank. My total water with rocks, sump and plumbing is approx 280 gallons. I also have a 2" sand bed. I'm calculating the NeoZeo rocks for a 300 gallon tank.
Here is the question. Since all the rocks are dead and curing in the tank and there are NO live stock, do I have to follow the directions on the Brightwells .pdf for adding 200g of NeoZeo rocks for each 100 gallons, per week, for 5 weeks? Can't I just add 3000g of NeoZeo rocks all at once since there are no livestock? I would up the dosage of the MB7 from 7.5 to 10ml every day for five weeks. SO what do you think?

are you trying to do a quick start up similar to the zeovite 14 day start-up?

I would think that since the aquarium does not have any livestock, you don't have to worry about depleting the oxygen level.

Honestly, I do not know one thing about zeovit. I have there Docs, but never read it. This is the first I hear about the zeovit 14 day start-up.

No - The reason you add the media slowly is so you don't drop the nutrients to fast causing corals to die.

I don't see any issues with that myself.

Chubakah,
I asked you awhile back about your xenia disapearing when you hit ULN. I dont know if you had multiple sizes but if you did; did you notice the larger colonies deteriorating first? I have a large "colony" that has been shrunkin up for at least a week now. Two small "colonies" still look fine. My guess is that the smaller ones are able to grab enough nutrients but the larger doesn't have enough to support itself. Either way it opens up some realestate:lmao:

I believe that the 14 day zeo start program is to accelerate the growth of beneficial bacteria to shorten the cycle time and create probiotic balance within the system. I have run a Zeo System and am currently changing some of my products over to Brightwell. I will continue to run the ZeoLith rocks but have already moved over to MB7 without a hitch. The Brightwell products are soo much less expensive, I could not resist.

With the your system starting and no livestock in it per se, you should be able to start the NeoZeo System fully without ramping up. The down side to this is that starting quickly like this will be stressful for any life that may already exist on the rock in the tank.

The link to the Zeo 14 day cycle is here....http://www.korallen-zucht.de/en/service/initial-cycle-just-14-days/index.html

The above listed document outlines the 14day cycle. I have not done this BUT, it may give some insight as to how to cycle a new tank with ULNS / probiotic products.

Take Care !

I only had one small colony 4" and some stragglers in others areas. It seemed to all go by the way side at the same time. Here one day gone the next.

Guys,
I just started using the biofuel after 2 weeks of MB7 on a 30 gallon system. I was adding 7ml of mb7 daily in the first 2 weeks. things were really looking good.
I started with the biofuel 5 ml and cut my mb7 to one drop daily.
Not a good idea. I had this green cyano looking stuff pop up on the rocks in patches. And some other GHA is looking green again.
what did i do wrong?

I have a feeling i need to dose 2.5ml of both the mb7 and biofuel for the next 2 weeks or at least use the same amount of mb7 in relation to the biofuel, right?

or maybe not so much biofuel in general?

Will you be switching to the Brightwell stones as well? I'm considering trying the Brightwell stones on my Zeo system. Big difference in price.

Thanks,

Yes there is a big difference in pricing. Right now, I am not planning on changing over to the Brightwell Zeoliths. Before I run out of Start2, I will probably get the Brightwell's carbon source to see what it does. I would like to be able to go back to start2 if needed.

My personal philosophy here is to go slow, very slow. It will be months before I change anything else. My next plan is to go to Red Sea Coral Pro salt or GetTanked salt, still researching.

I currently run the brightwell zeo system on my 20G I am currently dosing 1.5ml 2x a day of their carbon source. which at the moment is relativley cheap but I will be upgrading to a 180 system and brightwell carbon source would become quite expensive. my question is how would I go about vodka dosing if my nitrate level are already undetectable?

I have a question...i started dosing coral amino two days ago, and tonight i notice the flesh is stripping off from two of my coral..is this normal?

Not sure what you consider expensive but my system is quite a bit larger than 180 gallons and I use maybe $5 bucks a month in Bio Fuel.

Vodka dosing is an entirely different thread though and not something I would give advice on in this thread. Also, if you are assuming that your 180 will also have near undetectable nitrates what makes you think either carbon source would be more than a few penny's a day?

Maybe I am missing something?

I haven't posted in a while, but I have using BA products as well as a lot of zeo porducts for quite a while now. I have a question about dosing the AA's. It seems that if I was the dose the recommended dosing, I would be dumping 10ml per 100g daily. At that rate the 60ml bottle would only last 6 days. I am guessing this is a misprint. I would like to add some more AA to the system, but don't want to buy another bottle and find it isn't effective or I bought too small a bottle. I guess I would be interested in finding out how much is added to some of the other established systems. Thanks.
