Try some dielectric compound (silicone grease) or vaseline to lube the o-ring and seat it down in the cut groove for it firmly, then try putting your front cover on.

That didn't work. I'm sure the o-ring is too thick. How necessary is that o-ring?

Hi acesq

this O-ring must be on the Motorblock... Please put out the 4 screws behind the Motorblock, put off the Motorblock from the white holder, and make the O-Ring into groove....

After installation, make a little bit Silicongrease on the O-Ring and mount the Pump back on the Holder..... The 4 Screws please do not overtighten...

This O-Ring is from Motorblock...

Hope, it helps...

best regards .. .Klaus

That was it! Thank you Klaus. Its all back together now. (I've taken the pump apart so many times now I can truly attest to the quality of manufacture -- Royal Exclusive produces great products.)

I'll say hello personally at MACNA.

Joined the club - Bubble King Double Cone 180 with RD Speedy. Thanks to Premium Jeremy for getting it shipped out so quickly and securely.

This pump is insanely quiet and powerful. Goodness. If I didn't see water flying around I wouldn't know it's on. The DC controllable-ness is awesome. Makes dialing it in easy...I think. Heh :bounce3:

It's uh, large! My building guys thought it was furniture ;-D

I think the cup might be an upgrade. Hmmm

Less than 24 hours...already some minor amounts of tea. This bodes well for the future as it breaks in.

Hey

Yeah mine has been up since...Thursday night. I have the power set at around the same at the moment 20-30w, I forget exactly where, with the wedge pipe wide open. It's sitting in 8 1/4" of water, which seems to make it happy. So far I've cleaned it out once, just 3/4" or so of skimmate and it was horrible smelling stuff. I also had to dump it again when I messed up the setting and it pulled a bunch of water and filled the cup. Heh

But yeah, it's breaking in, and working while it breaks in, which is good.

Completely, utterly dead silent. The pump is worth the $ for sure.

Klaus - excellent piece of engineering. Well done sir.

I'm in the BK Club!
I just set up my new Double Cone 180/Mini RD3 Speedy! It is pulling out some good skimmate. I have mine in 20.5cm of water, set RD3 at 25w, & dialed it in. I was wondering if anyone else has the same skimmer, & what theirs is set at? Just trying to get the best out of this great skimmer! Thanks.

Is it possible I may have went too big?

Is it possible I may have went too big?

I have a Royal Exclusiv Alpha 200 cone. That's BK right? Anyway, total water volume is 100 gallons. The tanks been up for 6 weeks and only has a chromis, yasha goby and a lawnmower blenny. The skimmer worked great for a couple weeks producing a nice black skimmate. Since my last water change 3 days ago the skimmer has not produced any skimmate. Any idea what's going on?

Thank you Klaus! Great product!!

Looks like brass fittings in the picture of the nice sump.

Hi moondoggy4,
You have a keen eye. They are 2 brass fittings. Salt water, & brass don't mix however in this case it's only a manual drain. I had this set on my other skimmer for 2 yrs and the only corrosion build up was a little patina. Thanks though.

How do you like the double cone 180 rd3 jedi master?

Can anyone help me here: I'm trying to figure out what skimmer to buy for my 140gal tank I have read that the bubble king supermarin are awesome but I don't see them in the 180 version so my question is:

between the Bubble King Mini 180 vs the Double Cone 180 Which one do you guys recommend?* any experience from both users or who have actually owed both would be great. Price is not an issue I just want what's best and won't give me buyers remorse. I am getting ready to order it this month, hopefully tuesday... so I want to make sure I order the best one betweem them.
Thanks In advance.

Just found this thread :) I'm on my second BK, first was a Gen 1 Mini 180. Best piece of equipment in my previous system. Now running the 250 and still smiling ;) Both skimmers work tirelessly and silently day in and day out. I really like the robust construction and even after 4 years my first BK looked and worked like day 1. BK customer for life!
