Buffalo area LFS

Other than ARC and saltwaterparadise are there any other stores worth mention in the Buffalo and surrounding area that are 10-20 minutes from the airport? I will be there all weekend and would like to hop around when im free.

'Pets Plus' in Lockport might be worth a visit but it's NOT anywhere near Buffalo International.

Really? Pets Plus? I have been to the one on Sheridan and the one on Transit, they're an ok pet store, but they have no saltwater fish or coral or anything, what am I missing?

Oy...all I know is, is that on my way back from a swap meet at arc last year, we stopped in at PP in Lockport. They had 20-30 sw tanks. Found some sweet crucifers (rock flwr nems) at decent prices. I'll have to admit the tanks were pretty "dirty" but they had some interesting livestock there.

hehe about the 10th time I've said..For this reef club,it is in bad taste to give positive or negative opinions about LFS's..Give locations and contact info and let people decide for themselves..

You're probably right, but the reality is there are two reef shops in WNY and thats it. Theres just no way to argue that point.

Thank you for the points of interest to those whom have shared. I will be checking in on as many as I can, fwiw if they have coral and other saltwater life I'm interested.

From what I've heard, Pets Plus (not a chain, it's a family owned pet shop) has recently started renovating the saltwater section. Certainly worth visiting, especially with the kiddos.

Definitely ARC and Joe's SWP. I haven't been to Pets Plus. The Fish Place and Markheims (Sheridan) may be worth a visit if you're also into fresh water and planted tanks. I haven't been there in a while, but sometimes you can find a deal in the look down at Markheims.

They all have their positives and negatives. I agree with cardiff, Markheim has their gems and they did put in a new cascade tank. They have a Solana tank with a Todd's Torch just chilling in the sand you can check out.

ARC and Saltwater Paradise are your top stops in the Buffalo Region.

This is a "reef" forum, so I get it.

It is an attraction for visitors. If you come from out of town, and take kids there, they oooh and aaah at the (what, 3,000 gallon?) aquarium that is the size of my kitchen!

That is why it is a must see...JMO. I stop there when I visit Buffalo anyway.
