They'll grow 5% of their body mass each day depending on how much you feed them. With a healthy diet, they will get large, but as long as i dont overfeed it it will grow to the size of the aquarium. With a lifespan of up to 3 years I dont see it being an issue. If it does become a problem though I will ask the local aquarium if they would like to adopt haha

ha yeah Ive had a brown octopus fill out a 55 gallon in about a year, of course they dont get nearly as large as an LPO. Octopus have a tendency to look much larger than they actually are due to the span of their tentacles.

I've finished sanding all of the fiberglass (pain in the butt!), now just waiting on the MAX acr epoxy. Im also purchasing the black color kit associated with the Max ACR so as to make sure i dont miss any spots and get full coverage. Pictures to follow :)

What are you coating the inside with besides the fiberglass? A resin of some sort? Is that the Max ACR you mentioned? Also what brand marine paint are you using that will adhere to the resin and or the fiberglass?

Thanks

I used fiberglass and polyester resin (9 gallons) for the first 4 coats. I'm using 2 kits (3 gallons total) of the max acr epoxy with the black tint so i know ive covered everything (I cant trust that i have full coverage with the epoxy if its transparent). Then im finishing with the pentair epoxy paint (1 gallon of green, 1 gallon of black).

Geesh.. where do you live that you don't have a local "Octopus and More" store..

Not much trade in 35-50 lb 14 foot span cephalopods in my neck of the woods.

Personally don't think there should be a trade in such creatures in any neck of the woods.

Depending on where this particular animal is sourced from, there's a 30% chance I, or someone I know, has seen it in person, in the wild. Unless maricultured GPOs are a thing now.

The Max ACR comes Tuesday. I ended up getting 3 gallons (2 kits) and both a black and white tint. I figured i would cover in white first then cover in black so that im sure i get full coverage.

I showed this to the significant other. He said he's seen grain silos over 60 feet tall done with just cribbing and corner supports so thought this should have no problems holding up. He's good with stuff like that so if he says it will hold, hopefully it will. His only concern were the windows. And was hoping they would be reinforced.
This is the point I was going to make. We have an old grainary on our place that is probably 60-70 years old using this type of construction. It's holding up just fine. Consider the outward pressure exerted on the walls (25' tall) when full of grain. Grain behaves much like water in the way it moves.

That said, our grainery has steel cables running from wall to wall keeping the walls from bowing out when full. But this type of construction was fairly common back in the day. Many are still standing 60+ years later.
