Building My 375gal Glass Reef

The RO water tank is used to supply the ATO for the sump. The tank is a means of overcoming the "impurity creep" that occurs in the first couple of gallons, whenever the RO membrane has not been used for a time. My thinking was - if I set up a large storage tank that I can fill automatically, in one go, I can minimize the amount of impurities because the membrane will be subject to the ON/OFF situations less often. Using two float switches, the tank is filled in one go. A float VALVE serves as a secondary failsafe, to ensure that the RO will be shut down should the float SWITCHES fail.

Boy, I can really complicate a simple subject, can't I? :o

ahh, I see, I'm using a similar but smaller 40g tank with RO/Kalk/Vinegar as my ATO, I like your set up

This is just a CMA post. I just noticed that earlier on page 11, I posted my salinity calibration standard was 35% - I forgot the decimal point - should have been 3.5%. Sorry :o

Hehe im watching these pics and just smiling to myself. If i had a tankroom like that i dont think i'd ever leave it :)

Sort of like what my second wife (now an ex) said about my 64 TR4 restoration -- "you think more of that car than you do of me'. I guess you can figure the reply. I now try and limit the stays in my equipment room to about half an hour. I can't afford any more wives.

Looking fantastic, Tom!

That's a killer light rack...

The water storage tanks look strangely familiar... ;)

Thanks, George. I'm so jealous that you've already got your Apex. Mines been on order for a while now, but no luck. :(

Hey Tom I see one of your interests is photography. I'm looking to purchase a DSLR in the next couple of weeks. Do you know any good camera stores around that I could go to check out which ones I like? I'm not talking about Best Buy but like a Mom and Pop type store that might have some nice cameras and tripods.

Emmett, there are only two decent stores (IMO) north of Tampa - Pasco Camera Exchange in NPR and Lakeshore Camera Exchange in Palm Harbor. PM me, if your interested, and I'll send their info. Let me know if I can help with any advice.

Thanks Tom. Yeah I might pm you a few questions, I should have done that in the first place, was not thinking. Thanks again I will check out those stores.

Thanks for the fish room pics. This is now my favorite tank (even if It is just because of the room behind it right now.) If you put the same amount of work into the actual tank as you did for the equipment then you will have a TOTM for sure! :D

BTW that is a HUGE UV sterilizer.

Just a magnificent collaboration of mechanical know-how and organization.

One thing I've always wondered about these grandiose set-ups is there noise output.

How loud is it in the back room and the display room?
