Thanks for the fish room pics. This is now my favorite tank (even if It is just because of the room behind it right now.) If you put the same amount of work into the actual tank as you did for the equipment then you will have a TOTM for sure! :D

BTW that is a HUGE UV sterilizer.
Thank you for the compliments and encouragement! And as far as the UV is concerned, well ... size matters. :D

... One thing I've always wondered about these grandiose set-ups is there noise output. How loud is it in the back room and the display room?
Thank you for the kind words.

The fishroom, itself, is really not all that loud. I, often, work in there for long periods and, after a few minutes, don't even notice the noise. What one hears the most is the fairly loud zishing of the dual skimmers drawing air. I made sure I got quiet fans and all of the Reeflo Gold Darts are almost silent. The loudest, single, noise is the P100 Panworld pump that comes on for 15 minutes every 3 hours to stir the saltwater storage tank.

Being the lazy person that I am, the frame around the display tank that closes the fish room off from the living room isn't finished yet, :o but you can already tell that the equipment sound in the LR will be very low.

That amount of organisation wants me to take TNT to my whole setup. :)
That would be a crime considering the beautiful setup you have - but if you do, I've got dibs on your Blue Line Angel. :D

Tom , If I had the money , I would pay you to redo my entire set up .
Oh, I dunno Ted - I work pretty cheap, ya know.

How's the cat doing?

Tom , Thank you for asking about Bindi . She seems to be getting better , but she was in very bad shape . It's going slow , but she looks a little better each new day . I know a lot of people don't like cats , but she is so sweet . Ted

Why do you stir your SW tank? I can't remember if you do continuous water changes or not which would require you to stir regularly.

Morning, Alan. Yes, I do a continuous water change - about 5gals a day. To be honest, I don't think stirring the water, after it's had it's initial mixing, is really necessary. I just like to be on the sake side.

Thought I'd give some credit where credit's due. If you followed the thread, you know I have four Tunze 6205 Streams. Started having a little trouble with one of them last week. It would turn on and off, all by itself, in a random manner - about once every two to three minutes. I called Roger, at Tunze, and told him about the problem. He said send just the motor in and we'll replace it.

Well, being the old geezer that I am, I didn't catch the "send just the motor" part of the conversation. I sent in everything - motor, propeller unit, and front shroud. After mailing the whole thing, it hit me what I'd done so I sent a PM to Roger explaining. I figured Tunze would wait until they received my pump so that they could place my shroud, propeller, etc. on the new motor. I assumed the whole process would take, at least 10-12 days.

Well, today, I received an entire new Stream. Roger didn't even wait to receive mine, before he sent me out a new one. The kicker is, he was on vacation last week!

Moral of the story - if you want the absolutely best CS available, bar none - buy from Tunze! :D

I have had the same type of response from Roger on at least 3 occasions now. They are certainly top notch for customer service

Ditto on my Tunze Osmolators.

Some, less than great, news ... :(

My tank has been set up for about seven months now - and I just had my first dead - well, dying coral. It's going through, what I suppose you call, RTN. About 1/2 the coral's tissue, starting from the bottom, has just "disappeared". It was one of two corals (both Acropora sp.) and a fish I ordered, from a well known inet dealer. The fish arrived dead. I've never seen any PE from either of the corals. The whole thing is turning out to be a bad experience. Think I'll stick to my LFS from now on.

As you know I have Voretchs and I've needed to return one control box to be reprogrammed and one wet side due to the shaft binding and and the unit dropping off. On both occasions I had excellent customer service. When I had the control box problem I called up and they guided me through resetting it and when it wouldn't they just said send it back we'll take care of it. Same with the wet side.
Great company to deal with.

Sorry about your coral. I haven't seen my small purple Firefish for 4 days. Guess he's gone to that great reef in the sky. :(

Don't give up on your Firefish, Alan. In the past, I've had them disappear for over a week only to show up again begging for food.

Tom , I am very sorry to hear about your loss . I know how well you care for your tank , and the things that live with in . Some things are beyond our control . Ted

Thanks, Ted. I don't think the corals, in that shipment, ever had a chance - the fish definitely didn't, he was dead. I measured the water temp in the transport bags - it was 64 degrees. There was a frozen gel bag (or whatever you call them) in the box. Seems to have done it's job too well.

reefing is a bit like golf, the highs and lows can be extreme, however can be dampened by limiting your expectations

works for me anyway :) sorry to hear about your loss

Evening, Elliott! Well, with me and golf, it's usually just lows ... - but thanks for the sentiments.

BTW: I was planning on sneaking in with your group for the WWZ tour.
