Yes, thank you Peter. Perhaps the lack of responses was due to most others not quarantining their butterflies.

i quarantine all my butterflies in hypo and prazi for at least 4 weeks minimum. i use nitrofurazone (furan 2) powder; it's great for bacterial infections.
i tend to shy away from copper especially for more sensitive species.
my qt strategy is very basic and it works for me.

peter - sorry but they're just too messy and all over the place.
however i just saw a pair of Pseudanthias charlenae and am going to pick them up tomorrow. they've been at the shop for so long now but i never noticed them because i did not know what they are. P. charlenae is newly described not too long ago.
i REALLY hope it's still there. otherwise it will be the Pseudanthias leucozonas incident. sold for 19 USD, no one wanted and it died at the shop.
i know. my country should be obliterated for that crime.

a mitratus and a burgess belong to the same subgenus, roaps.
very similar in behaviour and both equally hardy. however, mitratus butterfly is more aggressive.
i have a mitratus and a declivis in the same tank with no problems. both are also very similarly related.
what tank size? and if introducing, i would suggest adding both simultaneously after quarantine.

Thank you for these links, they have a lot of good and interesting information. My butterflies go into quarantine tomorrow - YLN, Saddleback, Falcula.

Does anyone have any experience with Chaetodon miliaris?
Charles Delbeek kept a group of 4 with Hawaiian endemic coral and they did not bother anything. Haven't tried myself, though.

I quarantine for 4-6 weeks and have used cupramine when ick cropped up. Despite the downsides, I have had much better luck with copper than with hyposalinity. Treatment is much quicker, too. I always treat with Prazipro.
My current butterflies are a Forcipiger flavissmus and a Heniochus diphreutes. My H. diphreutes came from an online vender that used to sell them, but no longer offers them. Hard to find, at least in my area.

How do you use the Cupramine and Prazipro with butterflies? At the same time or one after another? I was going to start Cupramine (21+ days at 60 percent dose) and then start Prazipro a week later (4 times 4 days apart). Pull the meds with a water change, charcoal and Cuprasorb and transfer the butterflies to the dt after a couple of days.

how long have you had this fish? A healthy CBB should be constantly searching the aquarium for prey (food) among the sandbed and reef structure.
If your CBB is constantly at the glass something is amiss. You might want to try feeding it more.
I have had the fish for a couple weeks now and it does search the rocks every once in awhile but mostly spends the better part of it day with itself ramming the glass. I am trying to get him on frozen food which he tries to some extent, he really enjoys black worms. Do they explore the tank or just stick to one side of it? My tank is a 48x30x15 and he just sticks to one half, I don't think I've ever seem him swim the width of it.
I treat with PraziPro immediately upon putting the fish in QT. I only treat with Cupramine if I see signs of parasites, preferably after the fish is eating reliably. I treated my longnose with a 100% concentration of Cupramine. It killed his appetite for anything but black worms for about a day after each dose, but did not cause any other noticable problems. Black worms are like a magic potion for butterflies. Once they start sampling, there is no stopping them.
