Butterflytown - 240 FOWLR

The P. Ocellatus? I ordered the first one that came available last Friday, showed up this past Tuesday. It's doing ok, but not eating much or at all really. I'm going to give it another day and then move it to a new tank.

Thanks for the heads up though, l try to get another video with that fish in it.

Looking forward to your progress!

Finally something to report. The Ocellatus starting picking at food for the first time last night. The behavior is very reminiscent of the Altivelis Coradion I had a while back. Kind of a shy and timid feeder, not really out with the rest of the fish eating.

I dipped the Declivis two days ago and had two small flukes pop off. I'm going to dip the Semi this afternoon, I'm pretty sure I've got a small infestation going. I don't want to start prazi yet though because the ocellatus isn't eating well yet. I may have to move him and start treatment anyway.

Quick video of my display tank and then quarantine tank. Does anybody know how to improve the video quality? Should I change the spectrum on my LEDs to all white?

IMO dipping will really help, and if a fish isn't eating well yet, it's definitely a way to go. Prazi is great for established fish, but IME it really does kill the appetite.

Your fish look great!! Ugh I really miss my flavirostris.... time to source another.

Drooling again...lol, just watched 3 times, looking great, continued success!
Try taking a video with only natural light, if that is possible. More whites could help too. Keep em coming!

I definitely agree, I'm not the biggest fan of Prazi. I always end up dipping the fish after treatment anyway to be sure the flukes are gone anyway.

I think it's definitely time for some new additions to your tank. I'm targeting a mitratus around Christmas time.

Thanks Ted, I think it's gonna be a long road on the ocellatus.

I'll try to change the lighting and take another video this afternoon. Tanks are in the basement, not much natural light.

Its really skinny. need to get eating asap

Unfortunately my burgessi will kill that idea. :mixed:

Not getting a warm and fuzzy on the Ocellatus. I'm going to separate it tonight, I think there is too much feeding pressure in my quarantine tank.

Here is a vide of the DT with a more yellow spectrum. I think it looks a lot better.

Went out and got a few new foods tonight and actually some small successes the Ocellatus. This video is from the third or fourth feeding of the night. It might not look like much, but it's actually a lot of progress.

Then of course there is the big fat puffer that eats everything...love that fish.

nice, idol looks fatter.

Hi there Caribfan, I'm loving your tank. I've always loved angels and butterflies and would love to recreate a smaller version of your tank with butterflies and angels that would be happy in a 110 (primarily dwarfs). What would you say are your biggest success factors?

Sad day yesterday, my tank is officially broken down and moved out of the basement. We're moving this Saturday. We are going to be living in an apartment for 3 - 4 months while I renovate an old farm house.

Fish are all at my parents in a 150 gallon and a 50 gallon. Everyone seems to have survived the move.

I was more emotional than I expected to be, I think it's because I've had a lot of those fish for quite some time

Hoping to get the tank set back up in July or August after we've moved to the farm, will surely keep everyone posted.

Good luck with everything Matt.

I hear ya on the emotion part, especially when you've had them for a while.

Glad you had an option to keep them somewhere in the interim. Hope all goes smoothly for you!

Appreciate it guys, the next four Months are going to be intense between starting a produce farm, renovating a house and continuing full time at day job. Plus I’m supposed to be a husband and father in there somewhere too.

I'm quite surprised, extraordinary thread, I was able to read the whole thing in about a week but it was worth it. Matt, any update ?? It's been a long time since 4 months :)

Matt,

I am also interested in an update. I read thru the entire post this morning. I have a 120 that I am seriously considering making a Butterfly Display.

Thanks,

Dean
