'cactus-like' brown macro algae

This one is a hitchhiker brought in on some LR rubble when I was setting up the 75g in December. In that time it has gone from not visible to this:

Very cool in how different it is from any other algae I have kept.

Just looking for any info that might be out there.

Thanks,

I'm suffering a major brain fart :eek2: Had that stuff growing like gangbusters a couple of years ago. Can't remember the name at the moment. It grows really fast and is very brittle, can spread like wildfire if conditions are favorable ;)

Big help you are... ;)

Thanks for the heads-up though. I've been watching it (like every 'surprise' algae that pops up) and it has grown up pretty fast; just not needs-to-be-romoved fast, yet. Not nearly as bad as the purple birds-nest algae at least.

I'll keep scouring the net in hopes of finding a picture referrence with name.

Thanks!

It's common in Florida, mine came in with bunch of stuff I got from the Key's.

I can already tell it going to need a shady spot to help control it... too bad really. It is neat to look at... /shrug

Thanks for the Florida connection. :D
