Can someone tell me if my coral is bleaching? Pic attached.

It just needs to tumble.... Which biopellets are what are pictured in your reactor on various online stores, so the pump should work... Worst case, you may need to not use as much pellets, which will just lower your nitrates slower...

I am using Dr. Tim Aquatics NP-ACTIVE Pearls right now. I just notice this one I'm using also states that removes both Nitrates and Phosphates.

Also, now that I know it's a biocube, are you using the same power compact lights that come with the system stock? That may also be it, because I rarely seen sps success with power compacts, I would recommend an LED retrofit kit... It'll help definitely, and it'll look better.

No, I have upgraded to LEDs from RapidLED. There are about 29 Cree LEDs in total. Mostly Blue.

Hi

The coral looks like it's either in light shock or nutrient starved!. Some colour in the tips, top has bleaching, base has thin tissue.

Get Salifert kits and test your levels again-Including your source water. API kits are not sufficient for keeping SPS IMO.

Show us your tank and sump- we can get an Idea how clean the system is.

Did you light acclimate this coral?. Your LEDs may be too powerful for your tank size.

You may be stripping too much phosphate out of your system.

A few things to check on and go from there....

Ok, that should be fine enough, if it's too much light then, you could reduce the time they're on by an hour or two.

Yes, I would recommend getting npx bioplastics, I've had them on my tank since literally day one, since it was a used system that I kept everything from, it went in before the fish

I can post some pictures of the tank and i dont have a sump. Or did you want a video?

You could also look into Red Sea NOPOX. It is like a form of carbon dosing but I personally haven't seen anything work as 'quick' per say as NOPOX. I find it a lot easier to dose than vinegar as well. If you go this route, I would highly recommend you get a better NO3 test kit as you also don't want 0 NO3 in your tank. NOPOX will also help if you have PO4 but it takes a while to start lowering the PO4.

Which tester would you recommend?

You could go that route, but a gallon of vinegar is 4 bucks and will last a long time.

Nitrates went from 20 to .25 in just over 2 months for me with vinegar alone. Do a search for vinegar dosing either here on RC or your favorite web search there are many articles written by people much smarter than myself that can explain the science in depth. There is a recommended dosing schedule available that'll guide you through the dosage and process. It's really quite simple. I dose via a dosing pump, so it's entirely automated, but there are other ways to do it.

Here was BC29 so i can relate( kind of but i always had 0 nitrate...LOL)
just ran the big 4 items for any nano. Purigen,Chemi pure elite, filter floss and a HOB skimmer. Everything had awesome color and growth.

Once you post your pic, we can help....

Yeah, I would think it's nitrates...

Just so you know, vinegar does the same thing as biopellets, but you must continue to does daily or your tank will crash, biopellets do the same thing, just don't require dosing. You slowly increase the vinegar same as biopellets. It's giving food for nitrifying bacteria. If you also wanted to eventually automate the dosing, it would make vinegar dosing more expensive then pellets also....

If you want, shoot me pms, I will do my best to answer any question you ask. I could be your person you know with experience :p

I never dosed, because i didnt know what dosing was.... I remember when a fellow reefer came to my house and asked me what my cal, alk, and mag were and i had no idea what he was talking about. I did a 1 gallon water change every day and my salinity was always 1.026 i made sure of it!!!! I did have a ATO.

I had about 25 SPS and 10 LPS........

Yes that was a MP10 but the Jabeo WP's werent out yet!!!! Got rid of the vortech in a heart beat. same jabeo has been running for 2 years.
