Those that I pictured above you would not see on your glass. Maybe the one with egg sacks. That one would look to be a very very tiny speck that moves. It is well under a millimeter. The others measured in microns.I know how small they can be. I used to have them all over the glass on my 75. My 180 I can't see any. And I've tried a mandarin, got pretty skinny so I gave it away.
While feeding them only frozen food is not enough to sustain them, it can be a vital supplement to support them in smaller tanks with a limited pod population. All mandarins will eat frozen and pellets. They are poor competitors for food, however and feeding the aquarium once or even twice a day would not be sufficient to properly maintain them in the long term..

Oh I believe you. Do you use filter socks or other fine filtration? UV? Do you feed much algae based foods? Nori? Phytoplankton?I used to see small white dots all over the glass. Now not so much

Mine are both picking at the rock now, swimming around and appear to be happy. They are thin though and haven't gone for any mysis or pellets. I added another rock to quarantine. If they don't put on some weight and don't show any signs of disease I may cut quarantine short. From what I have read they are very unlikely to have Ich because of their thick slime coat. Can anyone elaborate on that ? Risk vs. reward.
