Those that I pictured above you would not see on your glass. Maybe the one with egg sacks. That one would look to be a very very tiny speck that moves. It is well under a millimeter. The others measured in microns.

While feeding them only frozen food is not enough to sustain them, it can be a vital supplement to support them in smaller tanks with a limited pod population.
And how well they compete for the food really depends on their tank mates. Since they will pick frozen food off the ground they may do fine in a tank primarily stocked with plankton feeders that ignore food on the ground.

When ora released (sure it was ora) spotted mandarins to the market a few made it over here and we snagged a few for the shop. The nice lady who bought the pair couldn't get them to eat frozen or pellets so I'm not sure it's a guarantee that because they were raised on them, that it is a definite they will stay on them.
It was also interesting to note that they were a different colour. Perhaps diet related.

I used to see small white dots all over the glass. Now not so much

Oh I believe you. Do you use filter socks or other fine filtration? UV? Do you feed much algae based foods? Nori? Phytoplankton?

I've always used 200 micron filter socks but now I have a uv. The pods seemed to be gone even before the uv though. Maybe I'll start feeding more algae based foods and see what happens
Iv had mine in my QT tank for two days now. I acclimated him to temp. and salinity and put him in. My QT is cycled (params below) with sand and rock but nothing else.
The little guy is very small approx. 3/4" -1". He's been listless and not eating or moving at all. I've got a copepod culture and have been offering him tons of copes and also trying cyclop.
I'm pretty worried about him and give him a 50/50 chance of serving the week.
I'm not sure what to try to bring him back to life, any suggestions?

Mine are both picking at the rock now, swimming around and appear to be happy. They are thin though and haven't gone for any mysis or pellets. I added another rock to quarantine. If they don't put on some weight and don't show any signs of disease I may cut quarantine short. From what I have read they are very unlikely to have Ich because of their thick slime coat. Can anyone elaborate on that ? Risk vs. reward.
You are trying a pair in a 15 inch cube?
I have dont have any firdt hand experience with that but ive heard that too. I know that they cant handle cooper so avoid that.
