Carpet (Haddoni) Anemone in bare bottom

As far as flow goes mine moved around till she found a place she liked. I tried to get her to take up residence on the rocks but preferred the sand bed to call her perminate home. So IME a sand bed would be best. I am sure though someone has been able to keep one in a bare bottom. Wait and see who else chimes in for more info on that though.

My sand bed is 2-3 inches. And the Carpet seems real happy unless the dragon goby covers her with and the she curls up to remove the sand and pops back into shape in an hour or so.

You can get a Haddoni to live in a deep hole in the rocks, but they don't like it much. Why don't you just use a 2"-3" piece of PVC full of sand and hide it in the rocks? Just put a PVC cap on one end and fill it up 2/3 full, then stand it in the rocks and set the nem in the top 1/3.
Also, they like lower flow. They don't like to be blown around at all. Gigs do, but not Haddonis.

He was at the bottom,but decided to move up.Maybe he needed a change of scenery.

Haddonis like bright lighting, and often sand anemones will climb into the rocks if the lighting is not as bright (or enough white) as they want. I have seen a LTA climb the rocks like a BTA under 4 blue T5s on a 20g tank.

Did I ever said that they died without a sand bed?
That Haddoni jammed in that crevice did not look happy to me. That tank did not have much of a sand bed if any. Happy Haddoni stay at the same place for years on end. For the 37 seconds on the video, that Haddoni did not wander but who know where he was 24 hrs before that video or 24 hr after.

This would probably not be a sufficient amount of sand to allow a S. Haddoni to properly bury its foot or retract into the sandbed. You may be able to create a sandbed in a container to bury its foot in and then place the container in your display, but there is no guarantee that it wouldn't wander out of said container.

Sad to hear it. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm probably not going to get one since its questionable to leave a Haddoni in a thinner sand bed.
