I'm trying to avoid deep sand beds. If a Haddoni needs a sand bed to be happy, then I'd put in 1-2 inches for it.
The only time I see Haddoni out of the sand bed are at LFS. All the happy Haddoni I ever seen are all dig in the sand bed.
Things that make you go Hmmmmmmm.

Thats a Gig.
You can get a Haddoni to live in a deep hole in the rocks, but they don't like it much. Why don't you just use a 2"-3" piece of PVC full of sand and hide it in the rocks? Just put a PVC cap on one end and fill it up 2/3 full, then stand it in the rocks and set the nem in the top 1/3.
Also, they like lower flow. They don't like to be blown around at all. Gigs do, but not Haddonis.
He was at the bottom, but decided to move up.Maybe he needed a change of scenery.

This would probably not be a sufficient amount of sand to allow a S. Haddoni to properly bury its foot or retract into the sandbed. You may be able to create a sandbed in a container to bury its foot in and then place the container in your display, but there is no guarantee that it wouldn't wander out of said container.
