Carpet in reef?

Ok i just set up a 330 gallon reef tank and would really like to do a large carpet as a center piece, the question is how doable is this as i have heard they are difficult to position, and also if so which would be the best type for this endevor?

Haddoni's are not difficult to position. In my opinion, they make great reef tank anemones, because they don't move very often. They just need to be placed in the sand up next to a LR. The only bad thing is that they do have a tendance to remove your, not so bright, fish. Fish can learn to stay away though.

Haddonis have shorter tentacles (( though once in a while one will have longer tentacles for a day or two for no reason -- at least mine has )), compared to Gigs.

As for sizes, anywhere from about 5" to over 20, though size can be somewhat controlled by feeding less. My 11 year old one has been around 15" for the last 5 years or so.

As for price, would guess anywhere around $50 for a "plain" one to $300-$500+ for a blue and/or red one.

EDIT --- All 5 of mine are in reef tanks, and never had any real issues. I have only lost 2 fish in the 11 years I have been keeping them, and the only corals that I have lost were frags that fell into them.

Thanks that is a lot more encouraging than what i had heard in the past, mostly what i had seen where specimen tanks and the people that had the carpets insisted that it was the only way to keep them

mine green carpet is huge (about 18" across)
he's on the left of my reef tank...he has only moved 2" in the last 6 months. i think just repositioning for more light.
