carpet question

I recently added 2 carpet anemones to my tank ... I puchased them from a local guy who had had them for over 4 months ... the main one is a large ... 12" + red carpet that is doing awesome ... good feeding response, great color and tight mouth ... part of the package was a blue one ...

I will work on posting a picture, but, he is bleached ... missing "tentacles" and only the tips are blue ... in addition, his mouth is completely on one side ... it is as if one quarter of it is missing and the mouth is next to where the foot begins ... really odd ... he is getting "sticky" ... I can get him to eat if I place a silverside adjacent to the mouth and hold it in place ... I have had him for close to a week ... his color has improved some, and I have fed him each day ... I am wondering if this isn't a Hadoni ... thoughts?

Def surprising that only the tips are blue.

Without a picture, it's impossible to know.

I would recommend though, no more silversides. Perhaps go with a defrosted "ball" of mysis. Even a bleached haddoni doesn't need to feed every day. How big is this anemone?

when expanded, it is close to 7-8" ... why no more silversides?

it's mouth is also very tight as well ... it will eat and the expel waste the next day ... I was trying to feed it more often to account for the bleaching ... trying to get it back healthy

Large portions may not always be able to be digested by anemones, the waste left rotting in the anemone's stomach area can literally poison the anemone. Silversides also are generally not as clean as shrimp. I feed my haddoni mysis shrimp and sometimes jumbo mysis shrimp.

I hope it isn't a haddoni. It sounds like an anemone that has recently split, or has been cut in half. Haddoni doesn't split, and it's not likely to survive being cut in half. Pictures would be very helpful.

I know ... I don't think he cut it ... but, I am not sure ... I haven't been able to get in touch ... I guess the saving grace is the red alone was worth the price, but, I would really hate to see this die ... I didn't get pictures tonight, but, tomorrow night ... thanks for the input
