Carpet question

Well I have a carpet that has been doing great untill today. A little back ground on it first. When I got it from the LFS it was only about 6"-8" around but looking good and eating well. Now its close to 12"-14" around. It has been in my tank now for about 2 months and never moved one bit since I set it down in there. Last night I seen it got a turbo snail and was pulling it in. I never really thought much about it last night. This morning when I was getting ready for work the lights were not on other than the moon lights that I have going at night. I seen it was opened up all the way and had climed on top of all of my rock in my tank. I really didnt have time to do much with it because I was out the door when I seen it. When I got home it was back in the sand only about 6" from where it first was. It has spit out the turbo snail shell because it was sitting next to it. The thing that gets me is it has shrunk up really small close to 4"-6" at max. Plus its mouth is open with parts of its guts hanging out. Can snails cause problems or it just dont like escargo? Its in a 90gal tank with 6X54Watt T5's. Tests show this tonight

Thanks for taking your time to help me out.

I forgot to add that I do feed it once a week. From silversides to squid and anything between. Making sure that I change it up all the time for it.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. The more indigestible stuff they eat, the more work it takes to poo it out later. It could not digest the snail shell, so it probably took some effort to spit it back out. I bet it will be better tomorrow.

Thanks for helping me out. Now I do have a question about how I posted it. Did I put enough info down so you could tell me? Im just making sure that I have all the areas covered just incase and also for future questions that I might end up having.

I think you put enough info. Many many years ago one of mine ate a queen conch, after it spit out the shell, it looked off for a few days. After that it was back to its normal self.

He is looking good. Make sure t feed him well or you will end up with no fish in your tank. I had one that was close to 14" before I finally sold him. The final straw was when he ate my 6" foxface Lo..... Also if he decides to spawn you will need to do some quick water changes.... Here are a couple of pics I took before selling him...

And these show him spawning...

Yeah I have read up about that. Thanks for posting the pictures of yours that you use to have. As for mine its looking alot better today. Its mouth is now closed with everything back in it. It still hasnt opened up all the way but it is open up more than it was. As for eatting fish it got my powder brown tang. I think its use to getting feed every saturday but there was one weekend that I went camping so it didnt get feed. Well sunday night everything looked good in there all the fish were counted for but it was late and I was tired so I didnt feed it. Monday after I got home from work I looked at my tank and it was gone. No where to be seen in there or the floor. A couple of days latter my carpet was spitting out some good sizes bones. But since that it has been great to have and I wouldnt ever sale it or give it away. But the crab that is on it I have been trying to remove it since day one with no luck so far. I belive its the reason that my pink skunk clowns will not go in it. They go over next to it but get chased off by it. One day one of my clowns had a claw stuck on it that broke off the crab. Anyone know any tricks of the trade to make the crab go away?
