Appreciate that Scotty. thanks!Tanks looking fantastic mate! Keep up that good work
Thanks for the compliment. Yes, I love wrasses too. My last tank was wrasse dominant. I would definitely like a couple more. I learned my lesson a couple tanks ago with relying on just dips for corals. I now QT every frag I buy for 4-6 weeks with dips every 5 days. AEFWs are the worst!Tank is looking fantastic. Wrasses are one of my all time favorites. Great personalities and very effective at helping to control certain pests ime. Sometimes I regret adding my 6-line, but then again, I have yet to have any pest disasters and I should have had something by now. Especially in the beginning before I knew the facts. I was dipping fresh mariculture acros in melafix marine and adding to the display immediately. Makes me sick to think about doing that sort of thing now lol!
Thanks for checking it out!Nice video! Well done mate!!!
I appreciate that. I wasn't sure how SPS corals would do on the sand in a 27" deep tank, but so far so good I think.SPS to the bottom, just a great looking tank!
Thanks!Video was great, tank is looking sweet!
Wow!! Beautiful scape, healthy corals, nice fish. Great progression. I just read the first 5 pages instead of working..
Really nice set up!
And don't worry about spelling biggles, boggles... Sometimes he gets giggles but he really doesn't mind.. Biggles is all too often boggled, anyways...
So, did I read about your lighting properly? 10 bulb fixture with 2 extra bulbs on each side??
That's serious lighting!
I don't think you really went into details about tank maintenance like water changes, nutrient levels, additives, if any.. Let's hear the nitty gritty.
Thank you! I'm glad you like the Cali tort in the center. I had it centered in my past tank too. That placement was inspired by dog boy dave's tank. I have an oregon tort behind it that I think I will move because it gets lost back there and there isn't the contrast between the two corals that I would like to see.Wow, absolutely stunning, your centerpiece tort is perfectly placed, the scape is so nice and open, really digging this tank!!!
Your tank is looking great.
Love those mature colonies. Nice!
That's a lot of food going in... I approve!! Just amazed that your nutrients stay so low..
Great job.
appreciate it biggles. Yea, the solomon island ones look really cool. I love it when they display in the evening. I've always been tempted to get a bunch of those cardinals, but I never have. I just assume they wouldn't do well in my tank.Love that video mate, everything is looking great. Those Solomon island filamented flashers are stunning, i need more fish (not kamikaze glass fish).![]()
I do a freshwater dip to all my fish before they hit QT. I have never seen another fish do what that regal did. I knew he'd be a good eater at that moment, lolThat's a really cool story about your regal.
Quick cell phone video. Doesn't show the true colors and looks much bluer than it really is. One day I'll learn how to use my real camera.

That's awesome that you picked up a new regal. Best of luck with it. I keep mine with only SPS corals and have never had a problem. I hope yours leaves your acans alone. I've said it many times, wonderful fish!Your thread helped me pull the trigger on a regal and I could not be happier. Took a few nips at my acans the first few days but he's a gentleman now. I've had him for about a month and it makes me nervous but well worth the risk.
thanks, Yes good eye. My Navarchus is still very small but has his adult coloration already. he is my fiancé's favorite fish and one of mine too.Looks like there was a Juvi transitioning to adult Navarchus angel in there too?
Tank looks great!
I love when my flashers display in the evening. It's really interesting to watch. And yes, they certainly are jumpers.Flasher wrasses are cool. They were the worst jumpers I ever had. Would find the smallest hole to get out. So far they (2) were the only fish that I have lost to jumping.
haha, well I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for you and that angel buddy. I hope you have a small one coming. I would be slightly concerned about the LPS in your tank, but usually they stay away from acros. Angels are the reason I only have SPS in my main tank and keep the soft stuff in my frag tank. Can't wait to see a video with your new fish. What type of wrasses did you get?I added four new wrasse and ordered a Majestic angel today after seeing how cool your display looks with all those fish swimming amongst those yummy acros so thanks for the inspiration my friend
When the majestic starts eating my acros i'll be blaming you obviously![]()
After all the acros you've bought, Cameron should have come through for you, lol. Excellent pick ups with the new fish. It'll add another dimension to your already wonderful tank.Hey mate, the last time i saw one it was about 3" , basically the same size as my yellow tang when he has his fins flared with full adult colors so that's the size i'm going for. I'm not at all concerned about the LPS lol........ if he likes acans, zoa's etc and it helps keep him away from my acros then i'll be adding new ones on a regular basis.
I got a ruby tailed, a filament, a little red one and a little green one. I forgot what they were within 5 minutes of leaving the store as usual but i spent 45 mins talking about their suitability for my display with my fish guru Cameron at Willy aquarium. I wanted a carpenters as well but the one they had was on hold and bloody Cameron wouldn't go with my 'tell 'em it died' story.......:furious:
Thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it. As far as angels go, they're certainly a risk. I add them knowing if I had to I can get them out somewhat easily with my fish trap. Other than genicanthus angels, I feel really safe with regals in my tank, as I've never seen one take a nip. I actually just removed my goldflake and put him in my frag tank because he was constantly picking on my semifasciatus angels. I'm not sure if I will re-introduce him later or re-home him as he's one of my favorite fish.I would like to add to the chorus about how spectacular your tank is! I love the rock work, the negative space, and the rainbow of fish you have. Im quite jealous of the Angels in particular. I will be following this thread to see how they do, perhaps I will have to add an angel in the future.
Its too bad that you are already filling up so much of the new tank with the corals you haveDo you plan to prune them to keep them roughly a static size or will you swap out bigger colonies for small ones grown in the frag system? I've heard both approaches have plusses and minuses.
Oh, and T5 Rule!
