Reef Bass

Greetings Northcoast Reefers.
My first act as your new president is to thank Jake and Bob for their service. Thank you gentlemen! Your efforts were appreciated.
Personally, I am excited about the club and its future. With nice weather finally arriving, I'm hoping we can have some meetings as summer bbqs at members' houses. I'd also like to organize a tank tour so everyone can show off their tanks. If you are willing to host a meeting and / or be a stop on a tank tour, please let me know.
If anyone knows interesting people in the reef industry that might consider speaking at a meeting, please bring them to my attention and I'll see if I can arrange a visit.
I also welcome ideas and suggestions from y'all about how to make the meetings more fun or how to improve our club. Please post them right here. If you aren't comfortable posting them here, feel free to PM me with your ideas.
One suggestion I have is to see if some members with expertise in certain areas would be willing to speak or do a demo at a meeting. We've recently had excellent demos / talks from James with his QT procedures and from Jake with his fragging demo. Please forgive me if I volunteer you for something, I'm just trying to provide hypothetical examples. Steve Ruddy and I could talk about taking tank photos. Jake could speak about the challenges of maintaining multple tanks / water systems. Perhaps Tom could give us some insight on the keys to his success keeping a reef tank for 20 years! Mike and Jeff could speak about their experiences with breaking down and moving tanks!
Another idea would be to have a "current challenges" discussion during the meeting where members could bring up issues they are having and the club could offer suggestions on how to handle them.
Other areas I think we could improve on are meeting attendance and member participation in the raffle and frag swaps. Attendance at the last meeting was sparse and as such many people missed out on the very nice raffle pieces which included a LE Sunset Monti and several ORA corals. Remember, it's your participation in the raffle which allows us to continue to purchase awesome raffle stock. We also welcome donations of quality pieces by members.
Let's make our club an informative and fun venue for sharing our love of reefs and our vast pool of combined knowledge and experience!
Ken
