check out my par readings!

Guys, maybe this photo will explain things a bit:

As you can see I replaced one of my T5 tubes out of my ATI Sunpower with 24 Cree LED's: 20 x Royal Blue and 4 x Blue.

I dont run the LED's at 700mA anymore as it was too much power. I now run the LED's at 350mA. As I said above, the total PAR dropped about 30%. I am quite happy with the PAR levels and the colour of the SPS.

I now have the fixture about 8inches above the waterline. I forgot where I had it before.

So, I have 120watts of T5 and 24watts of LED with a mixture of 60/80 degree lens.

bobssecrtsn: I think perhaps the two corner glass is reflecting light back into the tank, causing the PAR to be high in the corners.

The PAR levels with the 6 tube ATI unit is VERY good. I would raise the fixture a bit and probably run shorter hours for a few weeks.

Adding a strip of LEDs ie reefbrites will raise your PAR towards the front half of the tank. More importantly, the fluorescent "pop" will be amazing and all colours will look better. I'd say go for it.

If you add the two strips you already got, then do that. Just dont damage your new ATI unit.

The anomalous PAR reading in the corners are probably light reflected off the glass in the corners - particularly with those corners being mostly empty, and the glass seems to be quite clean. I've seen this before with some LED fixtures, though usually the effect is somewhat less. Probably just a combination of that particular reflector plus the height of the fixture etc.

im thinking of the reefbrite fixture 24" for suppliments, and i am cutting back the lights from
12-7:30 2bulb/ 1-5:30 4bulb
