Check this out!

Wow, things can turn ulgy fast...
Just wondering who would have thought with all that was going on to take a picture of him going into the ambulance?

Honestly, I'm surprised as to how few of these accidents happen, after seeing so may pics of setups, with wires and power strips all over the place (and I'm one of them) it is just a accident waiting to happen.
Playing with electrical stuff near water can be a very bad thing.

Man...never, ever, ever touch the lamp if it doesn't start. I remember when I was testing them, a few electrical people told me how to measure the voltage going to the lamp and cautioning me about the startup voltage (in the thousands). I was really nervous just hooking test equipment up to the leads going to the lamp. He is lucky it wasn't worse.

GFI

GFI

I had my MH hooked up to a GFI circuit but had all kinds of problems with them going off. Even after changing the receptacle with a new one for 20 Amps. According to JB this is common and alot of people have had to go back to a regular plug arrangement. The rest of the tank is still on GFI'S.

That is really terrible, but my god, I could not help to start laughing when he described himself rolling around with the bulb stuck to his hand. Is that wrong?

Note to self, don't touch anything hot (electrical) in your tank. Especially MH bulbs. What the hell was he thinking?

I'm glad he's ok.

If you have problems with a GFCI tripping because of a MH light - dont kid yourself and think it's a bad GFCI or that GFCI's "dont work". They are there for a reason, and you should question why your ballast cant work with a GFCI (and then trade to a properly designed one). (Safety First...)

yup I got mine hooked up to a GFI and a 20 amp breaker when they don't go on because of a trip it's usually for a reason like a piece of salt creep or splash of water......
