i have decided to add a chevron to my 180. i know very little about this fish personally, my impression is that it is similar in care, habits, etc to a kole tang?
i currently have a red sea sailfin that is med/large. most likely i will only be able to find a smaller juvi. chevron, which is what i want anyway, want to see the change. thoughts, ideas, suggestions.
is it a good or bad idea to put a tang in an acclimation box? what is your favorite box/where can i purchase?
TIA.

Hmmm. I have one and love it but it is the only tang in my 240 g. I am leery about sailfin tangs with regard to new introductions.

My purple tang is "Boss" He doesnt really care about wrasses, but when it comes to any larger fish being introduced, he lets them know right away. I'm sure sailfins are the same.

I have had a chevron for 5 years now. Love the colors on him. I added him as a juvi with a larger purple tang and sailfin already established and never had problems because he was so much smaller. Now he is huge and rules the tank with the purple.

I've had my baby a little over two years . does a great job cleaning the glass . not much of a rock picker . some people think the adults are drab, dull looking fish.. when I feed mine her color explodes ! love this fish.

i cant wait til i find a healthy specimen, put em through QT and add em to the display. i also like the adult colors :) thx for the info, im not to worried about my sailfin. how hardy are these chevrons with the ich and stuff. what type of QT treatment would you recommend? right now the QT tank has some ICH-X stuff in it.

be careful about that sailfin. mine has killed more than one smaller tang. i would definately use an acclimation box just to see how it reacts.

sailfins are evil tangs... and chevrons are very passive compared to other tangs... be very careful adding it. maybe take the sailfin out first and reintroduce it later?

My Dad had a Desardini Tang years ago - I don't recall him being overly agressive. Could be the one nice one in the bunch though :)

i have not had mine all that long and he seems to be relatively peaceful but there are no other tangs so we will see how he reacts. him and my rabbit fish have been best friends since day 1 though, which i find very funny how they always swim together etc.
