Chinese LED Lights

Could the LEDs be changed after you have these home? I have some apollos and I want to add some neutral whites and more blues. If so where can you pick up some LEDs to do so?

Been following this for awhile now very insightful. but i am also abit lost as to which is the more reliable merchant to order with from alibaba. So i was wondering if i could have this little request? :P

can you guys posts
1)a pic of your lights
2)brought from?
3)Price?
4)layout of led colors

Thanks a ton!!!

got my two d120s over my 40B frag tank finally and the spectrum/layout and lights are working great. the corals are responding very well. these are such a bargain for what you get and like it has been mentioned running them even modestly, one gets excellent PAR at the sandbed.

i'll get some tank photos once the dsrl battery is charged.

can you tell me where you got the hanging hardware?

has anyone setup 2 or more IT 2040s using 1 power cord? I know they say they can be linked but I'm not sure how that works. they have a "international connector", is this what you use and what kind of cord does it take?

thanks
Mike

I just ordered a bunch from reefbreeders.. $1.50 each plus $5 shipping. They had a nice selection of the factory bridgelux chips. Shipped out yesterday

No. It isn't that simple with the Apollo lights. They use parallel strings, so you can't just swap any led. Ask them before attempting to do so, as you will void your warranty possibly as well.

Yes I am quite familiar with the way they are wired. My question was more of buying LEDs without the star board attached or maybe if the star LEDs would work in the fixtures.

You just plug the power cord of the 2nd IT light into the international connector of the first one. Simple as that.

Hello to all! I believe im the newest member to RC. I have a question concerning these leds and i figured since my tank is only 5 months old ill probably have more ?'s in the future. Time to sign up! SO I've read this thread and the old one several times. Great stuff!. I am in the process of trying to order two of the DIY D120's with 90deg secondary lenses for my 90 gal. I used the same DIY layout as monkiboy, thank you by the way. Sunny sent me the contract no: but I have no idea how to proceed and pay via PayPal. Everything is correct on the order including the extra 16 bulbs to play around with later on. Can someone enlighten me on how to get these bad boys in box soon? And to bhazard and Travis thank you two for all the knowledge you have shared on these fixtures. Very very helpful!

I'm about to order a 2040 from evergrow, here is my layout. CH1: 15-440 blue, 7-460 blue, 4-420 violet. CH2: 14-7500k, 4-3500k,2-660 red,2-630 red,4-525 green. I was trying to follow the radion layout, except I switched the blue ratio around. I didnt use any UV because of the burn out issue. What do you guys think? Any ideas where I might want to change this at? I like a whiter tank, 12k-14k. Thanks

They have said they have fixed the issue on the violet/uv bulbs. I dont know how true this is though.

I have just placed an order for 2XD120 fixture directly from Evergrow. Ive been emailing them back and forth the past two days. So far they have showed amazing service. Im amazed about the time it takes for me to receive the fixtures. its a custom layout so they said itll take 3-4 days and another 3-5 for shipping. Thats pretty fast shipping since theyre coming from hong kong isnt it? Unless they have a warehouse here in the U.S. where they put them together?

bhaz - I just recently hooked up my new it 2040 and i was curious about the stock plug that goes straight up from the unit. Is there a the 90 degree plug that i can order for a cleaner look?? I remember someone posting about it but i couldnt find it.

Thanks!
