Chinese LED Lights

I really like this thread. Lots of good info. Thanks to all who have posted and given their $.02.

I am thinking of ordering from the reef breeders site. I have a 125g 72" tank with two braces (giving me three sections). I am considering three of the smaller units or two of the larger units. Any thoughts on 3 small ones vs 2 larger ones? The price would be cheaper to do 2 larger units and it would be more powerful using more LED's .

The braces would be in the way if I did the 2 large units but would that matter much??

It seems that the stock full spectrum units from their site are fine. Or does everyone suggest designing a custom layout??

I've been pleasantly surprised at their fast response as well. And it doesn't seem to matter how many questions I ask. I believe they are shipping via air using DHL Global. Planes are a lot faster than boats. LOL!

hello guys,
I am going to be ordering my fixture from reefbreeder soon,
I am looking at the 32'' 200 watt fixture with built in controller for $499.00 and I plan to do a custom layout so that will be another $10.00 I am not sure of the layout I need,and what optics to choose.the fixture will set on top of my canopy and shine through an opening I will cut in the top of the canopy.but the height will be about 12''
so any help or input would be greatly appreciated.
 
If it helps you any, I ordered 2 of the 16" fixtures with 90 degree optics for my 48" 120-gal. My canopy is a little over a foot tall and I had to use L brackets to mount the units to the canopy. There was about an 8 -10 inch gap between the units and my waterline. With these optics, I got horrible spread at that mounting height. Shade in the middle and front/back. Very spot lighting effect. I wish I would have gotten 120 degree optics.

Those are $449 on sale now :) as for the optics i think 90 is universal.
 
I definetly don't want the spot light effect. And the canopy will keep all the light in the tank and not into the room. So as long as 120 will be enough to mix the colors and reach the bottom of the tank then that's what I will get.I also have atleast 3" sand bed too so everything is closer to the lights. Hopefully that sale will last a couple weeks.it doesn't show the sale price on the web site.

Did you order yet?Which lay out did you take now for the IT 2080?
 
Sunny just confirmed order. Shipping 2- DIY D120's next Tuesday. Stoked. I have already built a hanging system for my tank with 1/2" galvinized pipe (painted) that they will hang from. My 48" reefbrite tech light and 2 t5's currently are hanging from it. Reefbrite will prolly go back over the cichlid tank when they come in.
 
just layer over the tank to check them out. not sure on them yet. I've always been a t5 Guy but wanted to try leds. ill try them for a few weeks but would trade them off for a powermodule.

60 degree optics? Spotlighting seems pretty bad. I don't think I would like that
 
90 degree optics but they were just on the top of the 75. they will be mounted higher when the canopy is built. they light up the room terriably though and make it hard to be around

Damn so should I try to get 120 degree? I thought the 90's would be good enough on a 48" tank
