Chinese LED Lights

Is there a link to the IT2080s?

Links are not allowed, but the maker is Evergrow Lighting, and a US reseller is Reefbreeders.

I'll be comparing these to Maxspect Razors soon, as I just ordered two of those. They will be my main lighting until I can finish my 60" DIY light. Wiring 140 leds and 7 channels with little free time takes awhile.

Cool. I'll be contacting you in the near future on a build. Your information is very helpful.

When I get some spare time I'll do some testing and report my findings back here. I just moved my IT2080's over the 180g DT forward 3" and now I'm getting a less shadow down the front of my rock wall and corals. Pretty happy with that. Now I'm going to take apart one of my new D120s and pull a bunch of lenses. It doesn't cover the length of my 55g QT with the lenses on. One of the other buyers in my group took lenses off his IT2080 and he said the light spread out quite a bit. I think we got the new Bridgelux 90 degree leds, but he said it made a difference.

Do you think they put the new 90 degree leds in the IT2080 as well?

Thanks for the reply Ron!

My lights arrived today, the shipping was super fast. I order them Christmas day, and they arrived in perfect condition 6 days later (China to Florida). I am now looking into hanging these lights. I need them 16 inches away from the wall to be centered over my 90. The lights aren't too heavy, would I be safe to use a wall bracket like this and drywall anchors? The studs in the wall won't work, so I will need to use some sort of anchor. Is 5"-6" above the water line what is recommended? Thanks!

I was told that the 90 degree Bridgelux is the only led EG is using now. But they still put 90 degree lenses on all of the IT series and if you ask for them on the D120. Why? I think the lenses do more to focus a narrow beam and even the 90 degree led isn't that narrow. But I'm just guessing.

rad, that's the exact bracket I used over my anemone tank. I just drilled out the hole in the end to make it big enough for the carabiner to slip through. HD or Lowes will have drywall anchors that look like giant screws. A phillips head driver goes in where the final screw goes in and you just use your drill driver to screw it in flush with the wall. Then put the finish screw thru the hanger bracket and screw it into the anchor in the wall. They are rated for way more weight than the lights.

Mine are 5-6" above the water, but there isn't any rule of thumb for that. You can go higher if you need the light to cover more base, but then your PAR goes down. I put my brackets high enough that I can raise the light a good 8" if I needed to.

Perfect Ron, I really appreciate the reply! I will head to Home Depot tomorrow and start the project! I have D120's, so no adjustable hanger. I will try a few heights to see what gives me the best spread. As far as par goes, I appreciate the numbers you gave me earlier. My tank is already set up with the high light sps in the upper 1/3 of the tank, so I am hopping that running the likes at 100% blue and 40-60% white will be sufficient. How low should I start the lights for acclimating, if coming over from 2 x 250w halides?

Been following this thread for a while...I have some IT2060s coming in from reefbreeders. I'll post pics after I get them installed. It's a 36x36x25 cube :)

I'm using IT2040 for almost 2 months now and it seems that during a power loss/outage the custom settings made using 30mins interval is still there but the problem is when the unit turns on when the power comes back it will automatically select the 1 hour interval in which the case I leave it on its default settings, so I need to manually go to menu and reselect the 0.5h settings that I have save.

my lights do the same when I unplugged them... worried me for a second until i realized that just switching back to the 0.5h setting restored them... an annoyance but def not a deal breaker...

Question for those that own the D120 (value LED from reef builders).....Do you recommend the 60 or 90 degree optics or will the default be sufficient? I am planning on picking up 3 units for my 180g tank. I currently have 2 "48 marineland fixtures with blue LED strips and I still do not like the look plus my coral growth (if any) is really slow.

pics for reference of the marineland LED which looks yellow :(

I had a Marineland led, I won it at MACNA in 2010... it was worth just what I paid for it... nothing.

3 D120s should be just enough over a 180g tank. I have 90 degree lenses on the IT2080s over my 180g tank and they work great. Not much light spilling out of the tank and real good PAR values. I'm taking the lenses off any led that isn't blue or white so the color can spread a bit more over the entire footprint of the light.

There's an even better option at home depot that I used over my cube. Get rubber maid twin-track uprights and brackets. They also have an anchor kit for it.

It hangs just like a shelf bracket, but it allows you to raise or lower the bracket on the twin track. Very helpful with a non adjustable hanging kit like the d120 has. I made a how-to in the old chinese thread that was closed.

Do you have a link to this post? I tried to find it, but couldn't. I am looking for options other than the bent conduit route.

Question, I have 3 nova A4's on my tank. Standard build. Blue cool white. Well my corals look like they are mad at me. I recently bought some new corals that where under t5 at store and I put them on bottom of my tank 30 inch deep tank and lights about 6-8 inches off top of tank and they now won't open. All water params are fine. It was a hammer and Duncan I bought. Could it be lack of spectrum from the fixture?
I'm at a loss

Probably not lack of spectrum. Corals use blue and white more than anything else, which is why those colors are in your fixture.

How deep is your tank? I'm not familiar with the Nova A4's. I assume they are 3W leds? Do you know the PAR values in your tank?

I've used my PAR meter on other people's tanks who have leds and thought they had too much light and dialed their lights down. The PAR meter said they didn't have nearly enough. Two guys were sure they were bleaching their corals from too much light. One guy had PAR numbers that were in the 200 range just under the water surface and in the 20-30 range 18" down at the sand!

Also, even with perfect water parameters, corals take some time to settle in. It could even be your water is way better that the store and they just need some time. I got some uncommon species of green star polyps from a guy and they took a week to open up in my tank.

Good luck.

Just got done swapping the LEDs on my d120. Super easy about an hour and a half for 24 LEDs. took out the cool blues and added 10/7500k,4/3500k,2/660(left off the optics on these),4/450 blues and what I thought was violet 420 turned out to be green..(is that right 420 is green).. I think reefbreeders mis bagged them but all in all I really like the color at equal intensities it's really close to my Phoenix..

I had originally just RB/CW and 4 violets. I knew the violets were burned out so that's why I got those 4. They still lit up but the tops were brown/black and. Ery little light was coming out of them. I am gonna do a warranty claim for them as I took pics of them so hoping they will honor it and send me them out so I can add that back to the spectrum.

All in all super easy to do if you have ever soldered its a piece of cake. If not watch a few YouTube vids and you should get the hang of it quickly. I had to have my Weller 550 up 100% to get the melt FWIW.. I have a few pics of the optics and heat sink if anyone is interested in them. The optics just snap on and off. I'm really diggin the aesthetics of it now with the four greens in it. No spotlighting at all. Left the reds optics off for fear of it but I could have prob left them on. Light is about 4" off the water running back down to 50% both channels nist in case . I will slowly bring it back up to the max I had it 70% blues and not sure on the white channel with the new additions to it.

420 is violet. 520 is green.
