Chinese LED Lights

420 is violet. 520 is green.

Thanks pThat's what I thought.. Oh well wasn't planning on the green but it looks good to my eye. We will see how the coral responds. Gonna put in a claim to sunny anyways. They seemed like they were giving me the runaround before when I asked about getting them. I'll just push a little harder. Guessing it will just happen again though like the other violets burning out. Wonder why only the violets burn?

They started using newer, different violets, because a lot of people/companies were seeing the same issue.

And both the violet and UV always look very dim as they are very close to the limit your eye can even see. But the corals do use light in those spectrums.

I'd like to see a small light with just violet or UV (or even a mix) an put them over some corals at night to see if they light up enough for us to see the corals, and to see how much the make the corals glow (if at all). I'm running my moonlights at 1%-2% with the 450nm lights they use. I'm considering switching them out for violets to see what they do.

My violet were pretty bright FWIW. Not sure if it was the same as all but they def put off a purple light in the tank.

I've been in extensive discussions with Ron Reefman (helluva guy, BTW) and am really looking forward to ordering some IT2080s in the near future.

Those of you that just bought some, how was the ordering and payment process?

I apologize in advance for the crappy iphone photos. I really do love these D120's, I just spaced them a little too far apart and get some shading in the middle. However, it is exaggerated in the photographs and not as noticeable in person. I am considering cutting a piece of conduit to mount between the brackets so that I can slide them into what ever position I want. Thanks for looking!

MH and T5 are proven and perfected through years of experience and advances, LED is not. There is still much to improve upon with leds, as you can see with manufacturers changing their led layouts yearly. In less than a year, standard royal blue/cool white fixtures are now obsolete.

Where are you guys getting the replacement leds at? I've emailed reefbreaders and a couple others and go no response, I'm looking for 660nm,630nm,420nm and 450nm

If part of an LED fixture "Group Buy" (about 12 units+) they have been available directly from EverGrow in China @.50 each. Not sure if they will sell seperately (shipping a potential cost problem) but you can ask her: EverGrow-Sunny [sales12@evergrowlighting.com]. Or get in touch with your local Marine club as they probably have a Group Buy (GB) going on and maybe you could order some through that GB.

The other two lights are from Evergrow and Greensun, which both make solid lights. Reefbreeders resells the Evergrow lights in the US with a US warranty, and I also think they resell a few Greensun models too. US resellers are the best bet, because the light can be serviced in the US without paying a massive shipping charge to send to China. There isn't really a list of US resellers around.

Based on this, is its better to go with Reefbreeders to have the US warranty?
