I have been dealing with Cassie, but I think they switched reps on me when I told them I might be in for 8 units :eek2:

What color combo are you going with?

? There are plenty of cheap 3w epistar/bridgelux leds shipped from the US on ebay. I added in cyan and red leds to my IT120 light with no issues.

How do you like the cyans? I've been thinking about adding some more TV as well as a couple cyans and oranges.

this is what i went with. it's basically bhazards layout with a couple of reds and uv's added. i have no idea really, if the changes i have made, even make sense. lol! i'm just going to give it a shot. i feel that it's close enough to his original layout that i'll be ok.

@bhazard. If i replace a LED on the d120 can I use any 3W led? I assume that the drivers are constant current???

Can anyone suggest any other sources of led? Aquastyle and Sunny both charge 20$ delivery I would like to try a few leds and then buy and try more.
I cannot find bridgelux red or cyan. Are there any alternatives?

What are people getting priced at on the IT120? I could have sworn I saw there were around 250 maybe 280 at most... but I'm getting quoted 320 ... that's 640 for 2... I may have to stick with the d120s cause I can get 2 for 360 ... saving nearly 300 .... shucks lol

i got a quote of $336 for DIY, includes shipping and paypal fees. $315 if i went with standard layout. I could get them cheaper from the the us distributor that sells them.

Man I'm bummed I really wanted those... 640 is alot compared the 360

280 more for the auto dimming feature, better heat sinking, moonlight feature and LCD display screen

I'm sure its worth it but not sure if I can spend it lol

Reefbreeders sells them in their own layout for $299

Is it that much more worth it then the d120 for the extra 140 per unit bhaz? You'd kno best....

I thought the sunrise sunset feature was cool but I could live without it.... I also like the built in moon lights but I can add moon lights for cheap...

if ecotech marine cant build one to suport sps coral who can?

Umm we can? Ecotec is only concerned about one thing. Their huge markups. This thread is full of people experimenting.

People have gotten great growth from LEDs. I believe its all about providing a full spectrum while focusing on key spectrums
That chlorophyll needs.

Nice troll though led stony.

? I have a thriving SPS Acro as a reference. Its been growing steadily, and has kept vibrant color. As long as you include 420 violet, some red, and some green/ cyan, you can keep any coral with these.

The new Ecotech pro coming out will grow SPS just fine. Its the old Radions that are missing vital pieces of spectrum, and those are still 3 to 6 times the cost of these leds.

I think its worth it. The materials cost adds up to it alone.

You end up getting a very nice heatsink inside which the d120 does not have, which keeps the fixture cool to the touch. You get TIR twist on optics, an adjustable hanging kit, a wireless remote control, moonlights, and a sunrise/sunset controller. Its a sweet deal for $300, although I wouldn't pay much more than that for it when the maxspect 120w version is close to $350 during sales.

$160-180 is still the best bang for the buck if you don't want sunrise/sunset however.

The shipping from china bumps them up to 320 each. When i bought my sump grow light they had
discount pricing for 4 or more units.

Personally I think the it120 is worth it. Reef keeping is all about simulating nature. In the real world the sun doesn't
jump up to noon strength instantly and turn off instantly at the end of the day. I'm betting something in a corals
Biology is expecting a slow ramp up/down and processes are aligned with that for optimal performance. Plus it
Looks dam cool:) That's why I went with them.

reefbreeders is $299 shipped.

"The fixture comes with 60, 90, or 120 degree optics, and is set at $299 shipped" ~from their website.

Jumped on the LED bandwagon with a couple A4's. So far I like em' getting good color Looks like the d120 and it120 are the more popular models.

Who's running the A4's? Would love to see some A4 user pics or at least comments :)
enjoy
