Chinese LED Lights

I'm hoping to get some advice from some of you that have experience with these lights. I have a 65g (36x18x24) with a center brace, i've been debating what the best option for lighting the tank is. I'm afraid that I would have to hand 1 d120 to high to cover up the shadow from the brace. So I have been debating which the best option is 2xD120 with optics to narrow the the light spill from having 2 over a 36" tank, 1 of the new 24" lights or possibly one of the 27" Maxspect Razors.

Razor with a 14% off coupon code from Aquarium Specialty or Premium Aquatics as of right now, unless Evergrow does a sale too. Brings the fixture down to around $420, which is a great deal.

Don't count on your warenty being taken care of correctly. I ordered 3 Tao tronic and have had them for 9 months and now one the blues don't work. They want me to ship my light back to them and pay them $70 to have my light covered under the warranty. And not have a light over my tank for the few weeks it would take for them to revive my light and then ship me a replacement. Needless to say I'm very unhappy with there customer service. I would not recommended buying anything from them

I was told ever grow wasnt selling the 24" and 36" IT SERIES .... only selling them to companies who were reselling them. Maybe they meant just the 24". I plan on getting 2 24" units from reef breeders with customlayout and optics 2 year warranty (they will cover shipping both ways if something goes wrong) ...

Bhaz u have ordered from reef breeders right? Who did you deal with In Ordering? And how was there service and delivery for you

Yes, I took that 14% discount and bought 3 Razors 160 watt 16k units. I wanted to spend less and get these chinese lights but finally decided when the sale went on to get the Razor as the Razor has "real" Cree lights instead of what these chinese led's have. From reading these posts, I had some fear of early burnouts on the led lights, and other issues, which gave me more reason to get the Maspect Razor. I am running these front to back.

Hopefully 3 of these will give me good cover, dependabliltiy and more importantly SPS growing lights. We will see.

On a side note, I told my wife I finally decided and bought my led lights. She asked what I spent...unfortunately I told her the truth. She said that she thought I was insane...

Hello, I have looked at getting the Programable LEDs from Reefbreeders, but their website says "they are taking preorders". it also says they are 299, and I have messaged them a couple of times and have gotten no response. has anyone else had this problem?

The first time I messaged them it took a bit to get a response. Since then Logan has been fairly prompt, yet short with his responses. I originally was talking to Evergrow about the units and I have to say their responses were much prompter, complete and geared toward good customer service. In the long run I decided to go ahead and purchase from reefbreeders because I dont want to have to worry about the overseas thing in the event there are any problems, even though I felt they did demonstrate better customer service.

Same here. I had very good CS direct from evergrow. I just wanted to know for sure they were still selling those units. How long did it take for you to get your unit from reefbreeders??

I had great service from ever grow I decided to give reefbreeders a try just cause I was told by Sam at evergrow that the 24" unit was only for sale to there resale customers ... and I also like the in states safety of reefbreederz and there warranty seems more safe... I must say Logan was great he put up with my million questions and me constantly rethinking things lol he always replied quick .... he was great so was Sam at ever grow when I got my first led unit

The 24" and 32" fixtures are for resellers like Reef Breeders only. I couldn't order it for myself either.

With that said, I had no problems with Reef Breeders either. They are both good companies, and you get the benefit of US warranty repair with RB.

I need temp lighting for my new 120 gallon, and need it ASAP while I make my DIY for it. Looks like I'll be trying the Razors next :)

Oh, well I have been waiting for 3 days for a response now. I'm pretty much set on this unit. and like you 2 I want the ability of a warranty inside the US.does it take 2-3 weeks just to ship it though? that seems odd if its already in the US. or do they still mail it straight from China. seems odd.

And thanks for all the help on this thread. Even though it did cost me an extra 150 bucks haha. at least I did not end up buying the Marineland Reef capable.

Well I don't think it would normally take that long but reefbreeders own stock units of the 24" and 36" units don't ship till the 18th so custom units will be a little time out

Its not 2-3 weeks to ship. Evergrow takes around 20 days to build the unit. They ship extremely fast once they are ready. Mine made it from Hong Kong to NY in 2 days.

I want an IT2080 in the 32" length and I got a quote from EG of $398.00 delivered. I'm wondering if a US imported/dist. like Reef Breeders or AJM Reef LED can get them at a better price because they do volume buying and if they might pass some of that savings on to the customer if they do a large purchase or even a group buy? Has anybody asked Reef Breeders about pricing on a group buy of say 15 fixtures (mix of D120 and IT2080)shipped to one location?
