Chinese LED Lights

Thanks Ron. I just placed an order from the US company that redistributes. Since it is only 1 unit, best to do business in country. I got the IT2040 and can change the optics if necessary as the build starts.

Here is my final layout before I submit it for manufacturing. I would like your input on this please. The RB are royal blues. Is it okay to keep them with the 450nm or should I get rid of them and do all 450nm?

I have a standard 125g that I'm in the process of turning into a reef. 2 IT2080s or 3 IT2040s?

I have a standard 125g and I went with 2 it2080's. More power and the coverage should be just fine. I am still waiting for them to be delivered, so I can not comment about it with first hand experience.

Has anyone had any experience with the 32in controllable fixture from reefbreeders or now the layout. They say it can cover a 4 foot tank but I want to make sure it can.

@bhazard.... Any talk about 'it' controller on Nova units?

Wil PM you my # on MR

No controllers for those, but it might be possible in the future, or if requested. The drivers used internally are the same between both models. It would be very easy from them to wire the IT controller to it.

I prefer the tighter circular clusters over the grid that the IT light has myself. It helps prevent color separation on the sand.

Hey guys. I am pulling the trigger on 2 of the Evergrow Christmas Sale D120s for my 48"x16"16". Their default layout is below (Sorry, no color). This seems to cover all the bases for spectrum, but I'm an LED noob. What do you think?

Just thought you might like to know there are two different Configurations for the Christmas special. If you look at the URL the last four numbers are different and the light configuration is quite different. I have two of them with the URL ending in 4090 the other one is 2331. I will post the links so you can look at the different configurations, if someone blocks the links just p.m. me. I have two of these and they are way too bright when the whites are turned up. I run the blues at 100% and the whites at 20%, they look very very nice. So I was going to order some blues and swap out two whites for two blues. At $1.50 per L ED I thought that was pretty good, the shipping was $30. I was going to buy another light, so I just bought it now to save on shipping. They are sending 12 Royal blue LED along with the light.

Thanks igadget. I saw both of those and liked the one I listed above. I really don't like the windex blue look so I think I'm really going to like these fixtures. Ill try to put some pics up when I set it up.

Hey all,

I just set up a 25g cube to replace my leaking nanocube the beginning of the week.

The dimensions of the tank are 18" X 18" X 19"...

Was going to order one of the d120 for it. Would that be too much? I keep mostly sps.

Also I don't want too much light overspill into the room, so I wanted to keep it close to the water. Am I pushing my luck here? Should I go with another light?

At 19" deep and keeping the light fairly close to the water, you'll just have to keep it dimmed down more. You really might want to find somebody with a PAR meter so you can gauge how much light you want. I have an old D120 with no dimmers and no lenses over a 75g hex and the light is about 5-6" off the water and I get a PAR of 250-300 at the sand (21").

Does anyone know how reefbreeders makes the d120 dimmable with an apex? I'm assuming they wire in new drivers such as meanwells but does anyone know the actual driver and how they are wiring them in?

Thanks

They wire in meanwells. Most likely they wire in parallel somehow. The original d120 drivers inside go up to 100 volts and are wired in series.

Finally got my 2 x d120 fixtures. I got the xmas special ones. Colour is very good when I set them up temp over the tank. Very bright too, wipe the floor with my T5's.

Question is, I can only get them around 4" above the water line, would I be better taking off the optics?

Thanks, I will add piccys or a vis one I have finished modifying my aquarium hood!
