Chinese LED Lights

My D120 finally arrived today from RB for my 180G. Thanks to the fellas here for posting their setup and pictures, especially Ron who answered all of my questions.

Used a aluminum bracket to hold the lights up between two book shelf units.....

Looks great man ... good idea on hanging the lights

The L bracket is perfect for hiding the power cables especially on the D120's. Plus it give me the option to add more fixtures if needed without drilling more holes on the drywall. I ended up using the 1/8" thick aluminum (thickest one they had at Menards) and it holds up the weight of all 3 LED units.

That's a gorgeous tank. You won't need that chiller anymore!

Yeah you're right, I should turn it off......but it doubles as my digital temp gauge for winter Lol

D1105,

Glad I could be of help. Our local club guys have been impressed enough with the EG lights that 10 of us got last time that we are getting ready to order more! Quality sells and quality at good prices sells even better. And I think we'll give Reef Breeders a chance on this one. I'll let you know our results. Last time they were just getting started, but their lack of communication was a problem. Helen at EG did a great job.

Will be picking my D120s up tonight from a Group Buy. Very excited to remove the 6 Ballast i have from the tank. Will get me alot more room and really clean up the tank. I cant wait to see how my corals deeper in my tank respond.

I will be posting TONS of pictures..

I can't wait to get my IT2080s. But now am deciding how to hang both of them. I don't want to hang them on the ceiling so if you guys can help me out on how to hang them with a neat and slick look.

If you don't want to hang from the ceiling, your choices are shelf brackets attached to wall studs, or bent conduit pipe screwed to the stand with a U brace.

The guy who drilled my tank also did the pipe. Holds two IT2080s just fine.

Too all you owners. How are you liking the overall look. If you had a T5 powermodule sitting around would you use it instead? Do the colors really pop, and is there good contrast in the tank?

Those with reds, do you find it 'pinkifies' the tank, or does it really help bring out the reds and oranges without sacrificing other colors?

It's always hard to tell from pictures, but not many of the pictures posted here give an indication that we are getting crazy popping colors like you see from T5 or even other LED builds.

I'm not being negative, just looking for honesty.

I ran MH/T5, and I prefer these. Color and pop is very similar if you get the layout right. As far as brightness goes, I keep it at 50% to look at it comfortably. 100% is extremely bright. It contains the best of both worlds, the actinic look of T5, and the bright white with shimmer of a halide.

Too many reds are bad. A few neutral/warm whites and reds create a very natural "warm" look. A green (or cyan) here and there evens out the look a bit more. The reds/lower k whites really bring out the color in red pigments and clownfish.

It's hard to see from pics. You'd really have to see one in person to get an idea.

The d120 from reefbreeders is the one under Value LEDs? and they add $100 for optics and dimming? Aren't they $180 with the dimming and optics from aliexpress?

My mother, father, and sister came by to look at the lights next to each other. The lights were on "14k", which for the Radion is 100% blue uv, 75% white green red. I set the EG\Reefbreeders fixture to the same. I asked them what looked better, all three pointed to the RB light. I then told them the price of the Radion, and they all said I "was crazy" "Its so small compared to the other one", "you paid what? That's stupid. The other one looks so much nicer".

This is the 14k setting. Which side do you think looks nicer, or more colorful? Which side has the Radion Pro?
