Chinese LED Lights

Bhazard, Could you set both the RP and IT to YOUR favorite setting and compare? Im just curious.

Sure. should be able to do it later. It's tough to really show with a smartphone cam, but when I get shots that look close to what I'm seeing, I'll post it. It would probably be Radion 14-16k vs RB "cloudy" at 60% blue 50% whites and colors.

With the Radion, if you leave it on a pre-set timed mode, its hard to see what intensity each led is at at a given time.

Another thing I was surprised with... I thought having the leds closer together like they are in the Radion would lessen the color spotlighting compared to the wider spread of the IT light. It does, but not by as much as I thought. It doesn't completely get rid of it. Like Ecotech says, its "minimal".

About what is a single unit of the it2080 selling for? I have 3 nova A4's that are stock units and its 150 to upgrade new LEDs into them and then I mi need a 4th unit as I'm thinking of changing tanks
Corey

The IT2080 sells for $450 shipped and the IT2080 are 32" long which for my 125g which is standard 125 I only need 2 fixtures but if you go on reefbreeders website you can choice which ones youwant

I would think some light is lost when there is a center brace. However, the number of lights is almost the same with 2 It2040 or 1 IT2080. Has anyone tried it out to see if there's some shadowing. I would think the area 6" or less directly under the brace would suffer but maybe not much else?

I know with the razor this isn't recommended because one cluster of lights is directly over the center brace with the 27" unit. However with the Evergrow everything is spreadout so probably not such a big deal....

what if you would just take a couple of the red, greens and just put them on the blue channel

The blue channel would never be able to be truly blue that way. You wouldn't have the ability to go fully actinic blue, as the reds and greens would always be on. Individual channel control is the best option for that.

I can slide my IT2080 over my center brace and take a pic for you. My guess is, it wont have any noticeable shadows unless a piece of coral is on top of the water directly under the brace.

If you did that it would answer a question which has been asked on this thread many times!

Glad to hear the RB evergrow lights are outperforming the more expensive radion pros, or at least more appealing to the eye... My friend here in the northwest has organized a couple of group buys for the evergrow units and purchased a Profilux Mitras to test next to one of my IT2040s.... We both looked at them setup side by side on my frag tank and chose the evergrow units hands down as looking better! The ability to change every color is certainly nice but not worth the $1200 price tag!

understandable, just figured to give it that punch like the RP has with the blue and reds, greens on at the same time

I know this question is next to impossible to answer but any thoughts on the lifespan of such a fixture ? I'm assuming you do not run it at 100% all day long. For a tank that doesn't require an insane amount of lighting, do you think they could last a good 5 years ?

How hard would it be to replace defective LEDs ?

Mine is only 100% for an hour a day. Most of the time, it is near 50-70%. The 3W leds are being run at 2W on an aluminum heatsink, so the fixture is cool to the touch. Running at 2W increases the lifespan on the leds, where running a "3W" led at 5W like Radion Crees decreases the lifespan. I believe you could get 5 years out of it, and it is warrantied for 2 if anything did happen. There will probably be major advancements in LED lighting by that time, so don't expect more than 3 years without itching to upgrade.

The 32" fixture is growing my SPS, LPS, zoas, leathers, and clams without issues.

As far as replacing leds go, if you know how to use a soldering iron, it is incredibly easy on this fixture. Takes less than a minute to solder one in or remove.

I have an 18" wide glass center brace that is very cloudy and has a plastic strip down the middle. I put IT2080's on either side as far out as I could. But about 5"-6" of the light is over the glass. I don't have any shadow that you can see unless the water is stirred up with 'stuff' floating in it. But as the water clears, you can't see any shadow.

Thanks. With your extensive research and opinion. I just wanted to see what makes you happiest. End the end, that what its about..

I know its kind of soon but which one would you want to keep at this point?

Bhazard, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on an IT2080. I printed your layout and I hear you talking about putting the reds and greens next to each other now. Is this different than your layout. Will they be right next to each other or as close as possible while on the same channel?

Another unrelated thing I noticed tonight. I bought a green/orange chalice from a reefer who had them under AI Sols. Within a week, it has colored up to a nice green/red under the IT light.

Just got my IT 2060. Haven't suspended it yet, just messed around a bit with settings and menus. Man it burns my laps when at full force! A powerful and wonderful fixture. I love it already. I can already tell my 4 x T5's are a very far cry from it. Anyways, on a negative side, the owner's manual is something else. Minimum information and difficult to understand.
